So please I'd love anyone to say that UN is not bias against Israel and a useless peice of trash not even worth wiping your own butt with.
The UN has completely lost any relevance in the context of international conflict resolution since the beginning of the Cold War. The Security Council veto completely paralyzes them from acting decisively to prevent major inter-state conflicts. The other organizations affiliated with the UN, such as the World Health Organization, still have an important role to play in international cooperation. However, as we have seen with the COVID-19 pandemic, even the WHO is in major need of reform, and can easily be corrupted by the political considerations of member nations.

The veto is flamboyant and provokes an emotional response. However, it’s job is to see to it that there’s no war between the great powers over largely transient conditions. Instead of a veto it should a council vote that carries AND has the majority of the permanent members.

I personally hate it. I understand it and as an American I benefit from it (at least short term) but I still hate it. Here is why: The US and Britain make a solid block especially without a veto neither would bail on the other. Sometimes France will even let us know when it wants our help. They are a swell ally! So out of 5 votes the US/UK has 2 votes at all times in all things. If we can’t convince 1 more country to go along (kicking France under the table…Hard) it probably isn’t a good idea.

On the other side Russia has its own Gaul problem except it’s like rebellious teenager that discovered driving alcohol girls, and voting all on the same day. i’m sure China feels the same way with Russia.

The only major problem with the security council is that while it needs to be small, the permanent parties should be at least adjusted allowing India and Brazil aboard. Of course, only India would get a Veto because if you can’t put a small sun over every other nations capital you don’t F’cking deserve one.

Thank you for your time, you may leave…

Israel's security cabinet has decided to respond decisively to Iran's missile attack and target 'strategic positions', according to Israel's Channel 12, but would first seek necessary arrangements with the United States.

Makes sense. I wonder if the US are going to provide a list of targets to strike or just say "Hold off on the nuclear ones and go for these oil ones", or go for "Military and industrial only"

I wonder if Israel will attack during Rosh Hashanah, and
if if they do not....if Iran will be stupid and do a big attack on Israel during Rosh Hashanah.

Its has gotten really quite. Besides the none stop attacks on the North by Hezbollah which is becoming the norm anyways.

I'm surprised Israel hasn't responded yet.
several possibilities for this:

If Israel wants to make a massive attack, they need the USA and USA refuses certain attack scenarios, no Israel-USA consensus, If Israel wants to attack oil, this will make the price of gasoline rise enormously and in election period will hurt the Democrats.
OR, Iran has nuclear weapons, those of the Russians.

Yeah, them being quiet worries me.

Just some reporting from the ground…

People are getting spooked. Friends and coworkers know we are “Walking the Elephant” so to speak.

Americans know we are in for a ride.

Concurring, similar RUMINT on social media

Good points to take away that could also cause this:
  • The chlorine gas cloud settling over metro area Atlanta
  • Hurricane Helene
  • Port Strikes
  • Isreal/Iran

Can you believe all this happened in a week? Probably more of a North America economics thread rather than Middle East, but it may be related.

Edit: Some more reports..
