During a press conference earlier tonight, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about the expansion of military operations in the Gaza Strip, which has since been dubbed Operation Gideon's Chariots, after which Netanyahu states the entirety of Gaza will be under the control of Israel.

Netanyahu says Israel will control Gaza. It means his plan is to occupy it.

A ballistic missile launched at Israel by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen was successfully intercepted by air defenses a short while ago, the military says.

Sirens had sounded in the Jerusalem area, southern West Bank settlements, and communities near the Dead Sea. Preceding the sirens by some about five minutes, an early warning was issued to residents, alerting civilians of the long-range missile attack via a push notification on their phones.

Since March 18, when the IDF resumed its offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis in Yemen have launched 39 ballistic missiles and at least 10 drones at Israel. Several of the missiles have fallen short.

Probably nothing so overwhelming.

Reuters news agency quoted an Israeli official as saying that the country has rejected a new ceasefire proposal from Hamas.

The Israeli official also rejected Hamas's claims that the agreement was in line with the plan presented by Steve Whittaker, the US administration's special envoy, saying: "Hamas is not interested in reaching an agreement."

Reuters previously reported, citing a Palestinian official close to Hamas, that the group had agreed to a Gaza ceasefire proposal presented by Steve Whittaker, the US special envoy.
