Pakistan: BLF takes over Kalat police post and captures all government weapons.

This is something I’ve been personally watching, but I’ve held off on making a thread until it materialized further. Looks like it finally is.

To fill everyone in and @7gtz, feel free to add anything I’ve missed but the military appears to be taking or assuming power in Pakistan. The civilian government is being dissolved or at least significantly reduced in authority and influence.

Just the other day, their top military general was appointed for life. Typically, that’s a three-year term now it’s indefinite. And notably, this wasn’t granted by the government. He just assumed it...

I’ll gather the sources I’ve been following throughout the week and post them here soon. Again, @7gtz, jump in with anything I overlooked I know you and I have been discussing this touch and go throughout the week.

Civil War in Pakistan? | Massive unrest in Sindh as protesters clash with security forces over Indus canal project and water scarcity.

Locals accuse the Pakistan Army of diverting Indus River water. Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar’s house set ablaze, oil tankers torched, highways blocked.

2 protesters killed, 15 injured in police firing.

PM Narendra Modi has strategically pushed Pakistan towards internal strife by putting the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance!

Honestly, this has been the case for Pakistan ever since 1950. The current COAS has slowly eroded the government's power and has taken total responsibility. The Prime Minister holds no power here - the Army has removed Pakistani Prime Ministers from power so many times that not a single PM of Pak has completed a 5-year term so far. Incumbent PM Shehbaz Sharif has been very passive in this regard, after he saw his predecessor Imran Khan get thrown into jail for disagreeing with the army.

Asim Munir promoted himself to Field Marshal, a 5-star rank (this secures him a "lifetime" tenure). It's always been the Army that runs the show here and he is no different, and perhaps the most conservative and assertive of them all. Last year, he ate away at the power of the judiciary of Pakistan and left them without teeth as well.

What you're seeing is a return to the 1980s-style Islamist military dictatorship governed by Zia-ul-Haq. Nothing unprecedented, but still notable.

CONTEXT: video depicts a violent clash in Uttarakhand, India, where a large crowd, likely Islamist protesters, surrounded a police chowki (station) following tensions aiming to provoke unrest similar to incidents in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

The Uttarakhand Police responded swiftly, using force to disperse the mob and prevent potential anti-Hindu violence, as the situation escalated with physical altercations and property damage, including the vandalism of police vehicles and a building.

This event is part of a broader pattern of religious tensions in India, where similar provocations have led to violence, as evidenced by recent incidents like the 2023 Nuh clashes and the 2020 New Delhi riots, highlighting ongoing challenges in maintaining communal harmony.

From jail Immar Khan, he issued a rallying call to his party and supporters across Pakistan: "I send a message to my party and the entire nation - Get prepared!!

I pay tribute to the entire nation for the massive public participation not only from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan in response to the call for the Peshawar gathering.

In this atmosphere of oppression, the people's coming out is heartening

Dramatic visual from Dadyal, PoJK. This is not a foreign scene. Pakistan blocked peaceful protesters with three heavy containers on Palak Bridge, Dadyal. Locals lifted and threw them off the bridge with bare hands. Sources say the protest is intensifying across PoJK.
Video:

The protesters stripped the uniforms from PaK police officers and hung them at the entrance of Bagh, PoJK, signaling a warning to incoming PaK security forces.
