NATO. That’s who. Using Ukraine as a proxy means that the U.S. has full on plausible deniability. It’s starting to seem that this Ukrainian strike wasn’t so random after all.

Sorry, I don't think Zelensky is going to put his country at risk for a potential nuclear response from Russia to take out strategic bombers on behalf of the United States. That makes no sense. WHY on god's green earth would we need another country to do that for us? Russian bombers are not a threat to the US. No Russian bomber is getting anywhere near US airspace without being intercepted and - if necessary - shot down.

No, I think Zelensky's been waiting for the distance limitations on western weapons to be lifted for quite some time now, and when they were, he waste no time in giving Russia a black eye. Fantastic morale boost for Ukrainians. A wake-up call for Russians. Except now we have to deal with Putin's Revenge.
 
What do you think the revenge will be? Chemical, Biological or just another big drone/cruise/missiles attack? Or will it be declaration of war with full mobilization? Destruction of a symbolic target?

I think it's gonna be another big drone/cruise/missiles attack, maybe aimed at more "symbolic" target (the Rada, Zelensky's office building etc...)

that’s why this was a one and done deal. One big hit was a dice roll as to how bad the response would be.

Right now we still don’t know where the dice landed, but personally, I think this was a well calculated move by not just Ukraine, but another major backer.

Russia is gaming out the response now…. Let’s hope it’s not a nuclear demonstration.

That didn't age well. Second major attack launched against Russia and Crimea a couple of hours ago.

Not chemical, not biological. Low chance of a nuclear demonstration of some kind, high chance of a hypersonic launch with those new fancy delivery vehicles we saw last year.

Declaration of war is moot at this point. Changes nothing. Symbolic targets and military targets are the most likely. Some infrastructure hits perhaps.
 
This is likely not the response to Operation Spiderweb. Looks no different than previous launches from last week.

That would be along the lines of the dumbest possible things they could do. 1. it would create a martyr 2. That would give Ukraine permission to respond in kind 3. The west has red lines in Ukraine as well don’t be surprised if that’s one of them wouldn’t be surprised to see a western air campaign as a result.
 
Does anyone have any reliable reports of missile strikes in Ukraine overnight.

I don’t know maybe just some perspective. Best I’ve seen on network reporting is 3 wounded.

On may 10 and 11 1941 over 1400 civilians were killed during that 24 hour blitz bombardment.
I’m beginning to feel like Russia navigation for their ballistic and cruise missiles is no more accurate than the Germans 1940’s v2 rockets.
Yeah it’s a lot of reported inbound. But the net result is less damage to infrastructure and military targets. Rather just simply to mount any response they can to say they have.

So one of three or four things possible here;
The number of missiles being fired are being overstated,
Russia failure rate is extreme,
Ukraine is shooting a lot of them down,
Or Russias targeting is so bad their falling in fields,

I say this because this doesn’t sound anything like a massive triple digit assault of drones, cruise missiles, and the occasional IRBM.
More like random potshots

Guessing it’s some combination, their missile production and stockpile has definitely suffered greatly since the start of the war.
 
So.. to sum up what happened overnight.
Russia launched 407 drones and 44 missiles over Ukraine at night. Kyiv, Lutsk, Lviv, Ternopil, Chernihiv, Kremenchuk, and others. Multi-storey buildings and energy infrastructure were hit and damaged.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones struck a large oil depot near Engels Airbase, as well as Ryazan Airbase, a Russian drone factory, and a bunch of Iskanders at Bryansk Airport that were about to launch.
 
"For us, this is an existential question, a question of our national interests, of security, of our future and that of our children," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters during his daily briefing.
This statement means a lot, in my opinion.
Russia will give itself the right to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
