Multidomain activity of EASTERN SENTRY - strengthening along the entire eastern flank of NATO yesterday by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe and the Secretary General, this is a response to further violations of airspace, including Russian drones that, on the night of September 9 to 10, 2025, intruded into Polish territory.
This was not an isolated incident – it is part of the escalation of Russia’s aggressive policy aimed at the entire eastern flank of NATO. The Operational Commander of the Armed Forces is responsible for protecting the state border in the airspace. But this is only one dimension. Operational command also encompasses other domains – maritime, land, cyber, and space – whose cohesive operation is crucial for the effectiveness of defense and deterrence.
It is this multidomain approach that forms the foundation of the decision to activate
#EasternSentry. NATO’s actions are not limited to responding to individual incidents. It is a systemic strengthening of resilience and combat readiness – from increasing the presence of fighters and frigates in the Baltic Sea, through the deployment of air defense systems, to the implementation of new anti-drone and cyber technologies.
We thank our allies for their solidarity with Poland and the decision to deploy forces: Czech Mi-171S helicopters, Danish F-16s and an air defense frigate, French Rafale jets, German Eurofighters, and support from the United Kingdom and other NATO countries. This is a concrete response that demonstrates that the Alliance’s unity translates into real defense of our borders.
