This is significant even if it's not true. The use of chemical/biological weapons can warrant a nuclear response according to nuclear doctrine of most nuclear-armed countries. Hence, if this is deliberate disinformation, it could be the precursor to laying the foundation for a "justified" Israeli nuclear strike.
I only flagged it so people wouldn’t miss it, not because I’m treating it as 100% credible.

It’s long been suspected that Iran has been dabbling in chemical/biological manufacturing.

And it’s not hard to imagine them putting chemical agents into missile payloads.

So sure, anyone could’ve made that statement. But since it was attributed to an actual official, it makes the “Iran manufactures chemical agents” theory less speculative, imho. For now I’m calling it 50/50.

My point was it doesn't really matter if it's true; but the *perception* of it being true matters a great deal.

Iranian FM Abbas Araqchi departed Tehran for Geneva to resume nuclear talks. Al Jazeera Arabic reports the delegation includes Deputy FM Majid Takht-Ravanchi plus nuclear and legal experts, and says Deputy FM Kazem Gharibabadi is already in Geneva.
