Sadly the USA and psyche of the average American is very different today to what it was then. Is no longer not even the same country effectively.

Not the Americans I know! I don't know who you've been listening to! There is still ALOT of Americans who will defend liberty! Our military is professional and large!
It still exists, but its mostly in small rural pockets. But you are correct, however I would like to add that the rest of the western countries are no better.
And on top of that Marines look the best in class A’s and Dress, by a large margin.

Actually I believe just the USAs Special Forces are larger than most countries standing armies in the world!
