🇱🇧🇮🇱🇺🇸
BREAKING:
Reuters reports Hezbollah has rejected the U.S. mediated Israel & Lebanon ceasefire plan declared in Washington. The ceasefire was contingent on Hezbollah halting fire and evacuating fighters from areas of southern Lebanon near the border. Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem rejected the declaration and said resistance would continue as long as Israeli occupation remains.

Israel is continuing strikes in southern Lebanon.

MIDDLE EAST OFFICIAL SOURCE PICTURE OVER THE LAST 12 HOURS: Three separate tracks are moving at once. Nuclear diplomacy, military sustainment, and nuclear facility security.

Iran, Russia and China’s permanent representatives held a joint meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi ahead of the upcoming IAEA Board of Governors session, with Iran’s NPT safeguards file and relevant UN Security Council resolutions on the agenda.

At the same time, the U.S. Department of War says the Maine Air National Guard’s 101st Air Refueling Wing has moved 747,000+ pounds of cargo and 312 passengers since the start of Operation Epic Fury, supporting logistics into the CENTCOM area of operations. Cargo included hazardous explosives, weapons systems awaiting parts, aircraft parts, containers and baggage pallets.

Separately, Qatar reiterated its condemnation of the attack targeting the UAE’s Barakah Nuclear Power Plant during an emergency IAEA Board of Governors session. Qatar said the attack was reportedly carried out by armed factions from Iraq using drones, while joining other Gulf states in framing the incident as a nuclear safety and security issue.

TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. forces intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones launched by Iran toward the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf neighbors, June 5.

Iran fired seven ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain hours after U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that were launched toward the Strait of Hormuz. The attack drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic. U.S. forces subsequently struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island to defend against further maritime attacks

.Initial assessments indicate six of the missiles launched by Iran were intercepted and a seventh did not reach its intended target. There are currently no reports of harm to U.S. personnel, and Iranian claims of damaging U.S. 5th fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false.CENTCOM forces remain vigilant and postured to continue responding to unwarranted Iranian aggression in self-defense.

MIDDLE EAST OVERNIGHT OFFICIAL SOURCE PICTURE. THE GULF/HORMUZ LANE REMAINS THE CENTER OF GRAVITY: U.S. forces intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles and one way attack drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz, Kuwait and Bahrain, while also striking Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites at Goruk and Qeshm Island.

Iran’s IRGC, via IRNA, claims it targeted Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and remaining U.S. Navy Fifth Fleet facilities in Bahrain with ballistic missiles. The same Iranian statement also claims four oil tankers attempted to leave the Strait of Hormuz without coordination, with one stopped and the others turned back.

NOTE: Those claims remain contested. CENTCOM denies damage to U.S. Fifth Fleet HQ in Bahrain.

Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Lebanese President Joseph Aoun that if Lebanon had been a bargaining chip for Iran, “we’d have a deal long ago,” while IRNA also reported Quds Force commander Esmaeil Qaani reiterating support for Lebanese resistance.

MIDDLE EAST OFFICIAL SOURCE PICTURE FROM TODAY, JUNE 6TH, 2026: The Gulf file is hardening into a combined air defense, maritime security, and diplomatic security crisis.

Kuwait’s official news feed carried that Kuwaiti forces intercepted seven ballistic missiles over Kuwaiti airspace, with follow on reporting of debris response and Kuwaiti condemnation of Iranian attacks on Bahrain.

Bahrain also remains in the pressure lane, with regional official reporting saying Bahraini air defenses intercepted three missiles and several drones.

The UAE issued separate condemnations of Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting Kuwait and Bahrain, framing them as violations of sovereignty and direct threats to regional security and stability.

Iran, meanwhile, is pushing the opposite legal narrative. Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned what it called continued U.S. attacks on radar and coastal surveillance facilities in southern Iran, calling for immediate UN action and framing Iranian strikes on U.S. facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain as self defense.

At the bloc level, the GCC Secretary General condemned Iranian attacks on Kuwaiti and Bahraini infrastructure, moving the issue beyond individual state statements and into a broader Gulf security frame.

The UAE is also widening the message internationally. Abu Dhabi said its foreign minister discussed the repercussions of Iranian missile and drone attacks with South Africa’s foreign minister, specifically tying the crisis to international maritime security, energy supplies, and the global economy.

Washington found its counter to Iran's $24 billion demand: spend the frozen money on the countries Iran keeps hitting. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has ordered officials to tally the damage Gulf partners have suffered from Iranian attacks and price out repair and recovery costs, as the administration weighs using frozen Iranian assets to compensate for past and future damage linked to Tehran.

Think through what that does. Iran says the entire deal hinges on getting its $24 billion back. Treasury's answer is to start metering that pot out to Kuwait and Bahrain, so every missile Tehran fires at its neighbors now drains its own recoverable fortune. The airport terminal, the casualties, the repairs, it all gets billed to Iran's account. Source: Reuters
