- The Congolese Ministry of Health reports 147 new cases, for a total of 488 confirmed cases. There are 119 suspected cases and 127 confirmed deaths. There are also 30 suspected deaths. There are currently 260 patients in isolation. There are 9 recovered patients, with a contact follow-up rate of 56.3%.
- The Ugandan Ministry of Health reports no new cases, leaving the total at 19 confirmed cases. There are 14 imported cases and 5 locally acquired cases. There are currently 2 confirmed deaths in Uganda. 12 patients remain in isolation, while 5 have recovered.
- The Trump administration is asking European countries to impose travel restrictions on people who have recently been in Central African countries affected by the Ebola outbreak to prevent any potential spread of the disease during the World Cup, which will start tomorrow in the United States.
- An unnamed European Commission official says “The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control currently assesses the risk to people in Europe as very low. At this stage, exit screening in the region is deemed sufficient; there is no evidence that additional measures are needed upon entry.”
- Mapp Biopharmaceutical has officially shipped emergency doses of the experimental monoclonal antibody therapy MBP134 to Central Africa. It is being cleared for compassionate use in high-risk individuals and exposed personnel.
