This night be click bait or rational cautious planning on China's part. It references a report from the Chinese PLA Rocket Force Characteristic Medical Centre. The article title may be over-hyped. As nuclear weapons use discussions has increased over these past few weeks, this might be (unnecessarily) adding fuel to the fire. Posting here for assessment (or debunking) .

This is something we actually recommend. The article says that a major nuclear war is unlikely, but a smaller State can use a single nuke. My guess would be for blackmail. Give them what they want or more nukes will go off. I doubt know how thorough China is when it comes to screening for nuclear material.

Though China does veer into paranoia when they mention Japan. On the other hand, they do rightly point out that Japan has not signed the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. And China is still smarting from Japan's invasion of WWII. So maybe "paranoia" is not the right word.

All in all, I tend to agree with most of the article.

Isn't Europe doing this also. I have seen reports of Sweden opening and resupplying its civilian bunkers and London, Paris and Berlin updating or reissuing their civilian what to do plans.
