If radars are jammed and GPS is spoofed how exactly are you going to PID something without human eyes looking at it? I don't think this is a nothing burger myself. Now I could be wrong. It's been known to happen. Russian missiles and drones do seem to be tracked pretty well by sensors so if we're just talking about an errant drone, missile or aircraft that's one thing, but a coordinated attack by russia would be presided by heavy ecteronic interference of all types don't you think.

Again, GPS is not used for PID.
If the radar is jammed, you just won't see the object. Spoofing will not turn a drone into a flying carrot or a bird into a strategic bomber.
There's a ton of technologies and sensors being used...PID is consensus based, if insufficient VID will still be involved.
The new policy does not prohibit VID.

Regarding Able Archer...the world is a bit different than 40 years ago. Especially on the military tech, and diplomatic side.

Russia sends NATO nuclear warning as tensions rise in Baltic region​

Russia has warned NATO it would be ready to resort to nuclear weapons if the Western alliance attempted to cut off Kaliningrad, a Russian exclave that borders the Baltic Sea.

In a document sent to NATO and seen by Reuters, Moscow accused the alliance of a "dangerous and reckless course" that entailed "high risks of the outbreak of a direct armed conflict".

The document said this included the possibility of "Russian strikes against decision-making centers in the alliance's member states right from the outset".

Polish Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Teams are responding to a possible incident at a military base in Nowa Dęba, Poland tonight, following the arrival of a mysterious package which upon being opened caused skin irritation to two military police officers and a civilian employee. Over 130 military personnel and other staff have been evacuation as a precaution, with officials telling RMF FM that the package arrived in an envelope from Germany.

This is not the first time that Russia threatens NATO with nuclear saber-ratting.
I mean, Putin even directly threatened that if NATO was to deploy troops to Ukraine.

Kinda redundant (except for the media) to repeat such obvious threat regarding a fantasy where NATO invades Kaliningrad.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has told Euronews there is no immediate threat to the alliance's territory, adding that he does not take Russia's nuclear threats seriously because Moscow could never win a confrontation with NATO.

"We have prepared for this, we have planned for this, and this is true for the whole of NATO," Rutte said at the Euronews Defence & Space Summit in Brussels on Wednesday.

"We will defend every inch of NATO territory. That threat is not there, and if anything happens, we are ready to counter it."
