I believe he is using the phrase to mean the US will "own" the problem of rebuilding Gaza, not that the US will own the land.

I didn't hear the whole speech, so I don't know the details. I remember reading something about Israel annexing, but I don't recall that being connected to Gaza.

So...I don't know. But if Trump is saying the Palestinians shouldn't return, I am guessing it will go to Israel.

I am going to list the in the "Things That Aren't Going To Happen" category, but Trump has surprised me before. So who knows?

back in the 60's before gaza went up in population Israel wanted to cut a line into the humus straight so they can be a huge profiteer in their own panama canal.

IMO Trump was using “Own” in his bombastic way and from context after running through a “WTF did he just say?” Algorithm, I believe he means we will own the properties for development as well as the properties and securities that are developed. Super high ambition.

Israel would own the land as sovereign, as they have ever since the Arabs declined the UN sanction partition by waging all out combined war of extermination…and lost.

Its a pesky bit of forgotten history, which is nuanced such as the fact that the USA holds the title to Formosa, not the Chinese, either flavor.
