Iraq State Stability Weakened By Iran Proxies & US Showdown

TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command and the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces conducted precision strikes in Iraq, July 28, against Iran-aligned terrorists that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) directed to attack U.S. forces and Saudi energy infrastructure.
U.S. and Saudi fighter aircraft struck multiple terrorist logistics and weapons sites across eastern Iraq in a strong response to over 30 IRGC-directed aerial drone attacks in the last 72 hours.

Saudi Arabia said it conducted limited precision strikes with U.S. Central Command against Iraqi militia facilities linked to recent attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure.

CENTCOM said logistics and weapons sites were struck after more than 30 drone attacks over 72 hours attributed to Iran directed groups. The PMF said several official facilities were hit, causing deaths, injuries and material damage.

Iraq’s prime minister convened an emergency national security meeting.

Iraq’s National Security Council condemned the Saudi & U.S. strikes as a violation of sovereignty and ordered measures to protect Iraq from further foreign attacks while preventing Iraqi territory from being used to threaten neighboring states.

The council said retaliation belongs exclusively to constitutional state institutions, reaffirmed the state’s weapons monopoly and confirmed coalition withdrawal by the end of September 2026.

The PMF raised its preliminary toll to 20 killed and 32 wounded across seven provinces. Baghdad said no evidence had been provided that the preceding attacks originated in Iraq, conflicting with President Trump’s claim that the strikes were coordinated with the Iraqi government.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq said retaliation against the U.S. was inevitable after Arbaeen and could extend to American “tools” in Saudi Arabia if required, while denying involvement in attacks against Saudi facilities.

It gave Baghdad until 23 Safar to demonstrate how the state would respond before factions reconsider their disarmament position.

PMF Chief of Staff Abu Fadak separately rejected surrendering “resistance weapons,” directly challenging Baghdad’s state weapons monopoly. No retaliatory operation had been announced.

Iraq’s State Administration Coalition formally backed the existing September 30th deadline for restricting weapons to state control, saying armed activity outside state institutions after that date would be treated under the anti terrorism law.

The coalition also warned against using Iraqi territory to attack neighboring states or draw Iraq into regional conflicts.
