Why CIA Director Ratcliffe took a C-17 to Russia instead of a Gulfstream. There are two very good reasons:

1. A C-17 has defensive countermeasure systems. A Gulfstream does not.

2. Ratcliffe was riding in what’s known as a “Silver Eagle” pod loaded in the C-17 cargo bay. It’s loaded with advanced communications systems akin to what’s installed on Air Force One.
