The Netherlands has taken over chairmanship of NATO’s Transatlantic Quantum Community from the UK, with Canada becoming vice chair. NATO says the community supports Allied and partner efforts to accelerate quantum technology adoption for defence and security.
The Royal Navy says HMS Somerset and an embarked Merlin Mk2 helicopter conducted Atlantic work up training focused on anti submarine warfare. The Royal Navy framed Somerset’s role around protecting the UK’s nuclear deterrent, monitoring North Atlantic submarine activity, and protecting critical undersea infrastructure.
Sweden’s government says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will receive NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on May 21. The visit will focus on Sweden’s total defence, civil defence, resilience, air threat management, civilian military cooperation, and public & private collaboration.

NATO Allied Air Command said Swedish-led AURORA 26 rehearsed Allied airpower integration across Sweden, the Baltic Sea, and Gotland.
Separately, U.S. Marines with CLB-24 showcased logistics and equipment capabilities in Sweden during AURORA 26, part of the broader Sword 26 exercise series.
