President Trump said he called off planned U.S. strikes on Iran after progress in talks with Tehran.
Trump said a memorandum of understanding with Iran could be signed as early as this weekend in Europe, and said the Strait of Hormuz would officially reopen once the agreement is signed.
Trump said Vice President JD Vance, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner may represent the United States at the signing.
Trump said the proposed agreement would include Iran not obtaining a nuclear weapon and said the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports would be lifted once the deal is reached.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said no final decision had been made on a possible agreement with the United States, while saying large parts of the negotiating text had been finalized.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Israel is not a party to the emerging memorandum of understanding with Iran.
