I heard it on the news this morning. Opening the Strait was apparently in response to the ceasefire in Lebanon.

I, too, have a hard time believing it when Iran is being blockaded.

Perhaps it is a gesture to see what the US will do in response.

I think Iran is hurting more than we know. Explains why Iran has not reacted to the blockade.
I think having almost 20,000 high value targets hit in three weeks with precision weapons equal an unbelievable amount of damage.

Think of what Israel did to Gaza. That was just with fighter aircraft. We are using strategic bombers in ways not seen since 1950 and the Korean โ€œPolice Actionโ€.

Do we have any idea what kind of retaliation Iran might take in the event of all of their power plants and bridges being destroyed? I would not be surprised if they tried to take out all of the oil production in the Middle East on their way down. If that happened, we'd be in for a major world of hurt.

That is the question being asked by everyone.

Of course, Iran doesn't have a lot of options.

Their biggest threat, closing the Strait, they have done. (Though why the US hasn't sent escorts I don't know.)

They can start lobbing missiles and drones, but that hasn't been very successful.

Their proxies don't seem to be very interested in getting involved. I can't explain why.

Terrorist attack is the only card they have left as far as I can see.

Interesting. I have wondered why the Houthis haven't joined in yet to close the strait of Bab al-Mandeb. There is something very weird going on behind the scenes during this crisis. Information is definitely much more tightly controlled than in other crises, particularly compared to the early days of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

This really needs to be discussed:

I'm seeing it from too many reliable sources for there not to be something to this. We need to talk about the mental stability of a world leader with access to nuclear weapons. We've done that for both Putin and Kim Jong Un; we can't ignore the possibility for Trump. I'm assuming that if they can exclude him from the Situation Room during a rescue operation in an active combat zone, then they might be able to keep him from launching nuclear missiles as well, but the closest we've ever come to this in the past was President Nixon, and his was more about alcoholism than mental instability.

IRGC Commander Major General Ahmad Vahidi and his inner circle have ๐ฌ๐ž๐œ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐š๐ญ ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐จ๐ฅ over not only Iranโ€™s military response but its ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐๐ž๐œ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง-๐ฆ๐š๐ค๐ข๐ง๐  as well.
This confirms what the world watched in real time: Foreign Minister Araghchi announced the Strait was open, and ๐•๐š๐ก๐ข๐๐ขโ€™๐ฌ ๐ˆ๐‘๐†๐‚ ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐š๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ž๐ ๐ข๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ก๐ฎ๐ญ, fired on oil tankers, and called Araghchi an โ€œidiotโ€ on state media.
The diplomats have been sidelined. The IRGC is running the show. And ๐•๐š๐ก๐ข๐๐ขโ€”๐š ๐ฆ๐š๐ง ๐ฌ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ž๐ ๐›๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐”๐ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฅ๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ’ ๐€๐Œ๐ˆ๐€ ๐›๐จ๐ฆ๐›๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ข๐ง ๐€๐ซ๐ ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐šโ€”is now the one making calls on war and peace. Yup! They're going to get slammed!

I have not heard this. I did hear that the President made his voice hoarse from yelling on a phone call he made to the Iranians. The author said he was glad he wasn't on the receiving end of that call. I can probably find a quote somewhere if you want.

Dude is getting old. Look at Obama he aged a shit ton during his Presidency. Joe Biden clearly struggled. A honestly think the US needs an age limit for any government position. Pelosi was 85 until she retired!

Congress is practically an old folks home. I am not saying it should have be overrun by naive whippersnappers. But the next President should at least be under 70.
