All the hype about an attack caused iran to disperse what forces it has left in an effort to save them, and I can guarantee that those movements were tracked and plotted. We'll see.

This does seem to be a recurring pattern.

Iran is mocking the reversal.

“Trump retreated again,” Mohammad Marandi, a senior Iranian figure associated with the regime’s negotiating delegation, wrote on X shortly after the announcement. - US shifts course again as Israel stays silent and Iran mocks Trump’s retreat

So either Trump (or someone) is lying about Iran requesting the halt to the attack, or Marandi is unaware of the request.

Riiiight.

The US has moved some forces from vulnerable positions, but the US has not withdrawn from those areas.

The U.S./Iran war is another example of the U.S. starting a war but refusing to actually carry out a war.

Iran's strategy that made the withdrawal happen is to force the US as far away from Iran as possible, out of the Gulf, Syria, and Iraq, and having them "holed up in Israel and Jordan," which is where US forces came under heavy Iranian fire in recent weeks, with hundreds of public figures signing a letter demanding immediate American withdrawal.

That forced repositioning to Jordan has let Iran strike US soldiers more effectively, killing 3 US soldiers at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base more than 2 weeks ago.

I could argue that the US interference with establishing a Western-friendly Shah as the leader of Iran in the 1970s is the root cause of everything that has happened since then.

You're absolutely right. But why did the US do that. I don't think the US wanted to make iran the 51st state. You have to look at the geopolitical struggle that was going on at that time. The US wanted to curb the expansion of the soviet union into the middle east. It's all about the oil. The US wasn't going to let the soviets set up a satellite pro soviet government there, so we did. Right or wrong it did keep the soviets out.

What the US should have done at the time was use our military to put down the rebellion, but we were embroiled in Vietnam, and the US power brokers didn't have the balls to do it. Now we have to clean up our own mess.
