Activity in the High North

New photos from the Danish Straits appear to show that PORTOVYY was not travelling alone. Russian frigate ADMIRAL FLOTA KASATONOV (461) and a submarine were photographed during the same transit through the Great Belt. That makes the intensive RAF P-8A and German surveillance activity in the Skagerrak earlier today considerably easier to explain - the aircraft were very likely monitoring the Russian naval transit.

RAF P-8A and German military aircraft GNY4511 are only now heading home after spending hours operating over the waters between Denmark and Norway.
