Pakistan’s defense minister says Afghanistan wants peace, but if talks in Istanbul fail, it means “open war.” He adds the ceasefire holds only if the Taliban stop cross-border attacks into Pakistan.
Afghanistan & Pakistan are in a third day of talks in Istanbul, hosted by Turkey and supported by Qatar, to keep a border ceasefire in place after recent clashes that left soldiers and civilians dead on both sides. Crossings are still closed and both governments are under pressure to calm the frontier.
