Are we 'officially' in WORLD War 3?

With France declaring war on ISIS... Could be in World War 3?

Especially if France activates article 5 of NATO... I think we could be. But at the least we are at the pre stages of WW3.

Good question:

Everybody assumes that World War III will be fought with nuclear weapons, but this may not be the case. It depends how we define it, but I think it's safe to say we are in a 'Global War'. Now when ISIS activates their sleeper cells across the world, conducting attacks against cities all at the same time all over the world, we may need to redefine it all, we know this is their plan and only a fool would ignore this possibility, especially with Europe and the US welcoming unknowns for a terrorist region with no vetting process whatsoever.

For now, i'd say we are in a global war on ISIS, and a cold war against Russia/China. Could change tomorrow, so stay tuned. We could go after ISIS in Syria (Or NATO) with troops, which can easily trigger a war with Russia. We can go from cold/global war to official WW3 in a matter of minutes under the right circumstances.

Since this question lies in the eye of the beholder, i'm going to say possibly.

I'm not saying Nuclear only.
Just a Global War. I have high doubts World War 3 will be fought with nukes. Seriously. It wouldn't be worth it unless a country feels suicide is the answer.

But I could see a major standoff in the ME or a accidental engagement by either side if we have a ground war occur. Russia isnt gonna move in Syria. Neither will the US.


A standoff could occur. But who knows. We could be in the prestages as its like NATO (if article 5 is activated) and Russia vs ISIS.


I don't care what anyone says.... ISIS is a huge threat to this world. Even bigger if they manage to obtain a nuke. Which COULD... and I mean could in a smaller way... lead to a nuclear war. But ISIS needs to be terminated.

ISIS isn't a country, so we're not at war with a country for WWIII to be possible. We're at war with an ideology, with an enemy that hides itself among the population, and with a tactic that is unpredictable. So no, I don't think we are, but we can very well go that way in a hurry.

I think people which were reading Tom Clancy's Red Storm all will say with joint voice that FAST INVASION is the invasion that will go wrong, so FAST in terms of "as quick as possible and as ready as possible in short time" is at least 4 months. :lol:


Oh. I voted for 'pre-stages', though.

It won't be (probably) war as was World War I or World War 2... More likely Crusades type of a war.
If I'd be thinking about war in terms US vs. Russia it'd be a definitve no.
At least for that exact moment as we're talking...
