Burevestnik Nuclear Missile

😂 the all is lost moment.
When you're making decisions based on what you think will happen 20 years down the road, you're bound to swing and miss every now and then.

The more interesting question is why they seem to persist with this - presumably rather costly - project. Could be sunk cost fallacy at play. Could be a case of "let's paint the grass green"; militaries are notorious for that and the Russian miitary in particular is something of a world champion. Could also be fear of telling the truth to your superiors - another thing that happens a lot in militaries, and in the Russian military in particular.

A point that was made many years ago, by one of my political science professors.......It's not what something can actually do, it'sn the PERCEPTION of what it could do.

Nothing new there. Recently used globally in another example. Many from all walks do such. Whether this relates to this topic remains to be seen. Time will tell maybe. Then again you may say the same for placebo. But hey like most things for most people there is always 🤞

I mean....you can just launch it and let it sit in outer space and allow them to stack up in outer space. It's not considered a space weapon, it's considered ground launch/icbm so you don't break the space regulations. So there is no choice weather they'll hit or not because they are already launched, you just need to set a target and they'll fly and continue even if you get nuked. It's an assurance free of human input as some people may not launch and some of the missiles won't launch in time, so in this you don't risk losing capability due to waiting to see the first hit, you can predetermine and call off if nothing happens. Russia is being more safe in terms of nuclear strikes because they won't need to rush a launch they can control where their already launched missile will go in case the first strike does hit so you need minimal input. (Activate, designate) it's a null vehicle till activated

Perception can drive responses , based on any number of actios/reactions. Are the Russians talking through their hats, regarding this new missile? Possibly. Is it overblown hype from the Kremlin and the Ministry of Defence? Maybe. Time will tell. Monitor and draw conclusions from that.

NATO spy ship observed test of Russia’s nuclear-powered missile – Putin

“Let them take a look,” the Russian president told the developers of the Burevestnik
Foreign military experts had the opportunity to observe and verify the capabilities of the Burevestnik cruise missile, which features a nuclear-powered turbojet engine and is technically capable of unlimited range, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a ceremony honoring those involved in the development of the new strategic weapon.

In recent weeks, Russia has also tested the Poseidon, Russia’s new super torpedo, a nuclear-powered, torpedo-shaped drone, and launched a new nuclear submarine, the Khabarovsk, designed specifically to carry such drones.
