We even had 3 Japanese midget subs in Sydney harbour. 2 sunk and one escaped. Planes shot down across the top of Australia from Western Australia to NT to Queensland. Darwin wasn't the only place to see action.

There was even an investigative Japanese landing on the cattle station at Curtis Island between Rockhampton and Gladstone. It was an assessment for a potential future landing site. This was a site that had open deep sea access and is why the port of Gladstone is just adjacent to this site. It allows very large ship access. through the coast Barrier Reef for large vessels. Fortunately the battle of the Coral Sea changes all the plans they had.

New satellite and weapons systems did alot of good a few hours when China announced live fire drills between Australia and New Zealand causing flight path issues. Surprise. Only a few minimal Chinese naval ships yet no one knew that plan. Please.

I never heard anything beyond ground in the NW. was it a weather station?
