Hi all! I’ve accepted my dream job, working on the NASA base… however, i have an extreme fear of nuclear war. I feel like this is a prime target. We have NASA and the space force bases… i’m not wanting to say no to the job but how do i deal with this crippling fear everyday??

Kind of depends on what the base does. It generally isn't a military base and certainly doesn't have missiles. Without knowing what exactly your base does, it is hard to really know. But off the top of my head, I am going to assume your base is not a target in and of itself.

The area the base is in may be, depending on population and what else is going on in the area. Is there a military base nearby? Are there other juicy targets close?

That said, don't turn down a good job just because of something that may happen in some unspecified future. Take the job, enjoy life, and worry about tomorrow when tomorrow comes. After all, as Jesus said, "do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

how do i deal with this crippling fear everyday??

As I have commented before when others have asked this question:

I run a site dedicated to the study of nuclear war and I play video games. Hardly something I'd do if I was worried about nuclear war happening any time soon.

Honestly, if there's a nuclear war you're probably better off being one of the first targets (and I say this as someone who lives in NYC and grew up during the Cold War). That's what I tell myself, anyway. It's either that or live in a bunker in rural New Zealand. Anyplace else and it's just going to be a slow death as civilization collapses around you.
