🚨 Chinese Malware Hits Systems on Guam. Is Taiwan the Real Target?

U.S. says Chinese hackers breached gear in Guam, key to Pacific defense

Well the US is the biggest cyber player, I dont think they are idle.
Right, but I haven’t heard much about US cyber incursions into other foreign power’s systems. Either our guys are just that good, and can remain undetected, or we are only snooping around low-risk systems with little consequence.

The US needs to assure the public that they are operating in the interests of the people. It’s time for us to cause a harmless(ish) 60 second blackout in Bejing. That will get their attention.

We just don't actively flex it. The other issue is we aren't a major power in the cyberspace: there's a reason why there's a hiring crunch and colleges are being offered so much subsidization to turn out quality candidates instead of theory munchers.

If you look at almost every single person successful in the cyberspace they were doing it when they were young (especially in the united states). Most of your freshers or people going to college for cybersecurity or operations in general is straight up ass at it and don't get hired. Your good earners, or people who earn money/get jobs as cybersec are majority people who had a case by the age of 18 and under. Anyone that hasn't had a case by 18 or under is typically ass at cybersecurity and don't know how to implement or do shit. Keyword (majority), the only issue I see currently is most of the colleges are turning out shitty grads in the degree because it's all theory, no real action/implementation because they like to project the ideal of : "Don't do any "hacking" don't do any of the cybersecurity stuff without permission". You're never going to get permission because you don't know how to do shit which prevents a lot of people from going out there and getting the needed experience: hackthebox and other likewise programs don't do shit to get you a job or assist you with getting into that mindframe/work.

Once again, with all the subsidization provided by the government, we are still turning out shit grads for cybersecurity. gods honest, from my personal experience talking to individuals who got into it through a degree. I'd say only 3/25 did it. Though, those individuals never got permission when testing exploits and methods to get privileged access. Everyone who's a square in cybersecurity goes nowhere besides a deskjob not using their degree or "self-study".

it's a void, if you follow what someone tells you "aka get permission first" you're not going to get a job because nobody is going to care about your email...they'll be like "This dude has no exp besides hackthebox which is straight ass". then you're going to be stuck without anyone employing you or employing you for a shitty role. You don't gain experience by not doing your "work", you gain it by doing your work and showing you can back up the talk.

Entirely 100% false.
I mean, from my experience we are ass with cybersecurity and most of the people making money were ex-crim in some aspect. The majority of individuals that come out with a CS/Cybersec degree are outclassed by children.

Every Nation on Earth is. If someone wants to hack you there isn't much you can do about it eventually they'll succeed. Absolutely nothing in the entire cyber world is safe from being hacked. So find your comment redundant or not applicable.

Also our offensive cyber capabilities are also top notch. Not your petty, basic bitch ransomedware Russia and Korea do only to generated money or a bot farm🙄. I'm talking about real cyber offensive capabilities the West holds.

The West has cyber capabilities to fight a massive global war, that is also very generously funded.

Russia, Korea, ect mostly have it to generated money as a side hussle. 🤡 😂

It's not a cyberweapon if you have a company give you backdoors: it's called administrative tools.

Go check the college curriculum for any software developer/engineer/cybersec student. Almost every country enforces the concept of ethics which means allowing the government to backdoor and giving them privy access to what they want, else you risk your company flopping and getting no money to support it through legal means. Evey country does this. America just happens to be an economic powerhouse with a lot of companies...soo...it's basically just ease of access at that point. If we look at many of the other countries they have better skills when it comes to making this stuff happen via real blackhat skills. Our country has no blackhat skills, it's free backdoors given by a company, no skill involved.

America can't "Smack shit" unless it's of a company hosted here or a honeypot NSA/CIA application. Keep in mind every single one of our darkweb busts have been through honeypots. Isreal made stuxnet and it wasn't smacked by the public: we had no play in it. Vult7 was NSA/CIA and it got smacked by a few dudes. Imagine getting smacked left and right, but yet...somehow we are the leaders in the world of cyberweapons, not possible.

I don’t understand how people can’t think the US doesn’t have the most advanced cybersecurity and cyber warfare capabilities in the world. We just aren’t good at cyber defense lately, which is clearly evidenced by Chinas farting around in our systems…. Which means we need to start getting on the offensive. There’s the old saying, “If we don’t build these weapons someone else will.” Clearly someone else is catching up.

It’s time for us to do some cyber espionage of our own. I am sure we have active programs, but again, we never have another country accuse us of cyber espionage. The closest I have heard of us messing around, was with STUXNET, and that was mostly Israel anyways, with a little help from the US. Either the US is keeping our capabilities really close to the chest, or we don’t actually have the quantum computing capabilities needed for the brute force attacks required to penetrate military encryption. Either way, show me the money, US. Getting tired of China being a peeping Tom.

The United States keeps its cyberactivity close to the vest so enemies don't know its true capability. North Korea was completely taken aback when the US hit is several years ago because no one knew the US could penetrate so far.

Five Eyes probably has significant cyberwarfare capabilities, you don't hear much about them because the West doesn't employ cyberwarfare as blatantly as Russia/China/DPRK etc...
