Honestly, in the early days of the pandemic, I was hearing rumors from other public health officials that there was a strong possibility that a naturally occurring virus had escaped containment from the WIV. I had even posted about that possibility on the DWS forum. However, it started to become clear that there were many characteristics of this virus that did not make sense. If I recall correctly, the Deputy Director had stumbled across some papers authored by researchers at the WIV that showed they were engaging in gain of function research.

My own personal opinion, after combing through mountains of open-source intelligence, is that it is very probable that this is a chimeric virus that escaped containment. The WIV most likely took a bat-based coronavirus and engaged in gain-of-function research, specifically on what's called the "furin cleavage site". This type of work should ideally be done under Biosafety Level (BSL) 4 conditions, using a positive pressure suit in a negative pressure containment room. Instead, they were working on deadly viruses only under BSL 3 conditions, which is basically under a negative pressure box. It is very easy for a highly infectious agent to escape containment while under BSL 3 conditions. The sheer incompetence is mind-blowing to me.

What keeps me up at night is knowing that many world leaders have not learned their lesson from the COVID-19 Pandemic (which is still technically ongoing, by the way), and we are poorly prepared for another major pandemic. I fear that if we encounter a pathogen as infectious as SARS-CoV-2 but 10 times deadlier, we could see a total collapse in the functioning of society.

The way its origins were obfuscated or dismissed will make controlling a new more lethal virus exponentially worse. Americans watched in real time their gov and medical industry cover this up.

And there was a reason gain of function research paused in the US and the NIH simply farmed it out to China.

The worst part of this was the politicization of this disease. It started with the WHO which ended up parroting Chinese propaganda about the origins of the virus. They were worried that if they came across as too harsh, the Chinese would not cooperate and would completely obfuscate any information about the virus's origins or case data. As we know, the Chinese already had a massive cover up underway and were trying to tie any criticism of the Chinese government's response as a racist attack against the ethnic Han Chinese people.

Meanwhile, in the United States, the official governmental policy was to downplay the severity of what was to take place. Some brave officials at the CDC sounded the alarm, but the White House tried to wait until the very last minute to admit that a serious crisis was brewing. This was made even worse by the Biden administration anxiously wanting to return to "normal". Instead of following the science and realizing that people could still contract the virus even after being vaccinated (which, by the way, can happen with ANY vaccine-preventable disease), they told people that they could unmask right away and that the pandemic was "over". Never mind the fact that the Delta variant was ravaging India so bad that they were burning bodies in the streets.

I tried to do my part the best that I could, diligently tracking new cases and new variants as they came in and reporting them directly to the State of California (where I was based at the time), and then to the State of Michigan (where I currently live). Things eventually got to the point where even I became disillusioned and decided to opt for early retirement from the public sector and become a stay-at-home dad.

Now, am I saying it definitely didn't come from a lab? No. But Lyme disease didn't, and you have all sorts of people who think it did and post shakey evidence at best about it,as if pharmacutical companies need an excuse to rob you blind

It’s a difficult and muddled reality. There are a lot of labs or Collection clinics for legitimate virus research and monitoring.
The Hantavirus in the US South Korea as well as Ukraine. The Bubonic bacterium is endemic in the SW US there are likely u told others.

The reality is thou that there truly are some individuals and nations looking at viruses as potential weapons. We cannot escape this. It is something that we’re just going to have to live with and confront.
It doesn’t mean that all pathogen research facilities are weapons related.

There is an interesting proposition in Kennedy’s book The Real Anthony Fauci. What bioweapon researchers discovered is that viruses in nature do not make good weapons. They either do not transmit well or they burn thru the population too quickly. Like fire sucking all the oxygen out of the room.
Thus gain of function research for vaccine development had unfortunately been used to explore bioweapons development.
With the introduction of Crisper CAS9 technology DNA research doesn’t need a high speed lab.
A lot of good can come from this research just as a lot of bad.

Kinda like Fire, Nitro Glycerin, Hydrocarbon Combustion, and Nuclear fission. All do wonderful things for humanity. Millions of lives have been raised up out of us substance living, astonishing infant and child mortality rates, and depressingly short lives.

It’s just the way of things.
Just like the garden of Eden. “So now you know, what are you going to do with that knowledge”.
