Some things are getting out of hand, so I want to make crystal clear what is expected in these forums.
Breaking News Section & Subsections:
This is our primary situational analysis center. It is for posting news reports and unbiased analysis of those reports. That's it. Personal politics, rage-bait comments, improper use of emojis... I don't care; they have no place in these sections.
Open Source Information Section & Subsections:
This is our secondary situational analysis center. Same rules apply as above.
General:
This section is less formal than the first two. These discussions are less about breaking news and analysis and more informational in nature, but the usual rules about not engaging in personal attacks are still in effect.
Off-Topic:
As the title suggests, these sections are the least formal and where I generally don't maintain much of a presence unless I get a complaint. I don't really care what the discussion topics are here as long as they remain civilized. We have people from many different countries, cultures, religions, and types of government. Don't be an asshole. Other than that, I pretty much don't care what goes on in those sections.
In the first two sections, we are essentially crowdsourcing OSINT analysis. As such, I want the reporting and analysis in those sections to look as professional as possible. If you have personal opinions or emotional reactions to whatever is happening in the world, that is perfectly fine. But keep it out of those two sections.
One last thing, and this will be everyone's first and last warning on this topic: Racial or ethnic slurs will not be tolerated anywhere on this board. I've been letting people get away with it out of respect for the Director's feelings about free speech, but it's gotten out of hand, and it stops now. I will be issuing immediate temporary bans for anyone using racial, ethnic, or other culturally derogatory terminology in any post or comment anywhere on the board. No edited posts; no public warnings; no private warnings; no official warnings. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200. This is the 21st century, people. Start acting like it.
