DEFCON 3 | Europe Crisis | Feburary 2022

What is going to signal that we approach DEFCON 2 that we HOPEFULLY don't get into, and what are ways to prevent that from happening? I'm very concerned.
It is difficult to say. There are a lot of variables that go into it. We can't say "if this happens then that will happen" because factors can influence it.

I know that is kind of a fuzzy answer, but it is the best one I have.

Here is what I think the likely scenario will be. Russia will eventually achieve their objective but at great cost. Zelensky will be captured and strung through a kangaroo court and it will be painful. The West will intervene inevitably on the excuse of protecting refugees. Ukraine will be cut in half and a new iron curtain will be established.

I should add that West Ukraine will be rushed into NATO. Finland will also join.

air raid sirens heard in Kiev. double checking-- is current feed, turning up volume on feed to see if anything else is heard. Siren was in the far distance.

I saw flash , does this mean it is nuclear explosion ?
Those are likely thermobaric explosions from missiles fired from TOS-1 MLRS pods, there were reports less than 24 hours ago of them being spotted in various points inside the border. On the backs of trucks. Honestly I'm surprised they managed to fire one at all. Still a very dangerous weapon and also a pretty large increase in firepower output.

FTR, the flash from a nuclear explosion would be much brighter and sustained even if it was of the smallest yield.

all of this solidarity stand with ukraine bullshit is the geopolitical equivalent of thoughts and prayers.
The west isn't going to do anything other than:
"Or else what?
Or else we will be very, very angry with you... And we will write you a letter, telling you how angry we are."

People forget how cheap life is in some places of the world.
I guarantee there would be way less backlash in Russia over losing 50,000 guys than in the U.S

The west is sending Ukraine advanced weaponry and ammunition. Hardly "thoughts & prayers."

It's sad to imagine the amount of tax money that will eventually end up in russian hands when they overrun the Ukrainians and take all of it.
When they annexed Crimea one of the large prizes they ended up with was huge stockpiles of tanks.

“If someone had told me that a country could start with 35,000 tanks, then I’d have said, ‘You are crazy!’,” the German dictator told Mannerheim in the 1942 recording. “If one of my generals had stated that any nation had 35,000 tanks, I’d have said: ‘You, my good sir, you see everything twice or ten times. You are crazy, you are seeing ghosts.’“
