The important thing for all to note, is that no matter what the Defcon level is, is that you always need to be make preparations. If you are prepared than you will be ready, in case things change by the moment or surprise attack, or if a terrorist uses a fed-ex truck to bring a dirty bomb or nuke into your community. If you prepare for the worst, than you are ready. After all if someone wanted to launch a surprise attack, they certainly would not do it while we were at Defcon1 or 2, where would the surprise in that be?

Yes and no. I think a few things need to be aligned in order for a major attack to happen. But I maybe wrong.

Obviously if nukes are used well go to def 1. But a crisis if we went to war with russia... for sure I'm guessing 3 or 2.5 lol

No, we would probably go to defcon 2 or 3 in the face of a nuclear weapon being used in Ukraine. Defcon 1 is the threat or imminent nuclear attack on American soil (or US base). Last time i checked their wasnt any American soil in Ukraine.

You know that if a nuclear weapon was used by Russia the US itself would be on Defcon 2. The US would be on Defcon 2 IF they had proof Russia launched the nuke/detonated it.

You do realize that if anyone uses a nuclear weapon now a days, they will face VERY serious consequences and military action against them.... right?

Not to mention the endless possible domestic backlash, and the fact that everyone is ready to beat you down.
