I don't think Putin cares. He's a ruthless and ice cold strategist.
Strategically I'd guess it could be a viable option for him: To be sure (and to give some info, because this is the reports thread) I just checked in the Wikipedia and yes: In both countries the majority's religious denomination is christian orthodoxy. Orthodox christians do celebrate Christmas, but they use the Julian calendar - so their Christmas is on january 7th according to our calendar.
So no "PR problem" for Putin in regards to his own citizens, but the option to catch the western nations at an inconvenient time.

Depends on how much US wants to die for Ukraine (they don't). Even with sanctions they will try to not make Russia too desperate or angry.
There are much more stuff going on the hands of US though - Iran and Taiwan. Both are very close to alarming point. Iran almost completed the bomb. US cannot free it's best resources because they must be ready for Chinese action.

Biden has even spoken out that troops on the ground to curb a Russian attack is not in the cards. I believe this is to land grab and make the land bridge they have always wanted, all while trying to get the land before the agreements from the US are made. All the dialog now is surrounding the treaties and legal guarantees. It's not even about Ukraine anymore.

They asked for legal guarantees last week ,they have been ignored and are realising their demands will never be met, especially with Nato. America can not and will not get involved with a Nato war other than arms supplies. Now go untangle your briefs miss, the obvious was stated already.

Calm down, he didn’t say that.

Invasion could start at any time - like Citizen said - but it doesn’t mean it’ll start a nuclear war between the NATO and Russia. It’ll be a horrible, bloody war for Ukraine, but both the US and the UK have both said they’re highly unlikely to send any troops to Ukraine.

Sounds like a good time for US - prices gonna skyrocket. Not just weapons, but energy as well. Norwegians sitting at homes with +8C degrees within their interiors - prices for energy or heat are unbearable for population.
The kind of stuff US likes the most. Block world transactions off Russia and scam the whole Europe on the palm of your hand.

Better worry about Iran though. Let's see how much they want to avenge Suleimani or what surprises they have.

According to TASS today, they weren’t ignored. Jake Sullivan reached out to them today and reciprocated the need for constructive dialog. These things take time, Russia knows that. So does the US.

Biden said over a week ago he doesn’t see US troops being sent into Ukraine YET. That YET word was missed or ignored by nearly everyone. If Russia gets really nasty with bombing or sending massive missile artillery into cities you can bet they will be squaring off with NATO AirPower to stop the inhumane BS real dam fast.

Israel will be forced to go it alone because they can get the job done with a little help from friends.

China will be one giant forest fire for stepping out of line! Those are my predictions on the coming events. Most of the world is sick of all their crap and cutting off the western worlds goods will get most nations to say to hell with them.

He(Biden) actually reported that it’s completely off the table in recent news. UK said Probably not.

I think they both know it will say regionally East rather than capitulate all of Ukraine.

Israel will do the Iran mission alone anyhow. We’ll just be “advisors.” As normal…

China, who knows what would happen there. We may see a two front offensive between Russia and China if it turned into a shooting war.
