Hey everyone! There is a mod of DEFCON out I downloaded and tested on my system. It allows you to set up to 16 different countries. This is a screenshot from my computer:

Besides, I think we've entered a new era of nuclear-armed nation states willing to use nuclear weapons on non-nuclear-armed nation states.

Ummmm.... Y'know, I think I might actually be able to get pretty close to configuring that scenario. I'd have to make Australia a "territory" for the US, not place any air bases or missile silos on Oz territory, and then place a single US submarine or carrier right off your coastline (as close to being "in port" as the game will allow me).No doubt we are a target. I can tell you the results without even playing it: You would be able to launch five SLBMs directly from the sub or seven from the carrier using bombers, and then Australia would be completely defenseless against any incoming ICBMs, SLBMs, or bombers. Every Oz city would get smoked by any country that is not part of the US/Oz Alliance. Some battleships placed off your coast might provide you with a weak missile defense, but intercept chances are not good. Once the US sub has launched its nukes, it might be able to take out an enemy carrier or two with torpedoes, taking out those ships' nuclear missiles. But the sub would probably get destroyed by anti-submarine tactics very quickly. Really wouldn't make much difference except as a final act of defiance.
If it's any consolation, the Kiwis would go down with you.

To be honest missile defense systems are actually useless nowadays against hyposonics .Ummmm.... Y'know, I think I might actually be able to get pretty close to configuring that scenario. Currently our military capacity would need 20 times what we have to last months in a direct conflict. Nuclear umbrella and host only makes us a target. No country globally could stop China taking Australia. The only way that could be stopped only results in nuclear war anyway. Majority of Australians are foolish to believe the US would save us. Most of the US naval forces would be destroyed by China on their way through to Australia . Reinforcements arrival would be to late due to travel time. So thanks anyway I know the thought is there.

Actually tend to agree with the comments of Yingyang although I question whether the USA would really have the motivation in relation to Australia. The other problem is that too many Australians are apathetic and not really that well educated in terms of defence and international affairs. Far to interested in manufactured reality TV rather than actual reality. Most Australians need to realise that it may not actually be in the core US interests to "Save Australia" in the way they seem to think would happen.To be honest missile defense systems are actually useless nowadays against hyposonics .

The US would, probably, but maybe not, attempt to relieve parts of Australia, eventually, so long as it didn’t inconvenience us whatsoever.
The USA don’t need ALL of Australia to fight China. We would probably just interdict them in the areas of Australia they hold. That means we bomb the crap out of you, making your hometown look like Gaza or Berlin circa 1944.
Oh yeah, we would free the ship out of y’all.
My advice is: God helps those that help themselves. For everything else there are BLU-82’s
