DEFCON Warning System

This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 1 A.M. UTC, Wednesday, October 26th, 2022. Condition code is Yellow. DEFCON 3.

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats at this time, however the situation is considered fluid and can change rapidly.

The nuclear rhetoric between Russia and Ukraine has increased, with each side claiming the other is preparing for a radiological attack using what is called a “dirty bomb”. Dirty bombs are not nuclear weapons but are conventional laced with radioactive material to spread contamination over an area.

Both sides have stated that they will not use either dirty bombs or nuclear weapons.

However, The DEFCON Warning System has noted an increase in activity on both sides, indicating that public statements are not in line with what everyone believes. Intelligence experts have commented that, while the odds of nuclear use in the Ukraine theatre are low, the odds are increasing.

Actions by both Western States and Russia indicate heightened alerts with regard to possible nuclear attack.

Based on The DEFCON Warning System analysis, out of an abundance of caution, citizens in Ukraine and the surrounding areas are advised to take the steps necessary in the event of a possible attack.

There is no immediate danger to the Ukraine area.

It must be noted that both Russia and Ukraine have warned of possible nuclear attack for months and nothing has come of it. Strategically, it makes no sense for Russia to launch a nuclear attack, however Russia has badly miscalculated the entire war. It is not beyond reason they would miscalculate again. It is also noted that it would be strategically advantageous for Ukraine to use a radiological weapon and blame Russia, but not at this time when Ukraine is making advancements on the battlefield.

To repeat, the odds of nuclear use in the Ukraine theatre are low, but they are increasing.

The DEFCON Warning System is a private intelligence organization which has monitored and assessed nuclear threats by national entities since 1984. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack. If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.

This concludes this report of the DEFCON Warning System.
