The DEFCON Warning System has released an Android Widget. This widget will run on any device that runs Android 2.2 or better. It will poll our server every 10 minutes and display the alert code. The widget will sound an alert if the code is upgraded (gets worse) while the widget is running.
For those who are on metered connections, the widget downloads a single byte every ten minutes, but there is overhead with that. Our estimates is that it will download about 1K of data every hour. So it should not make even a noticeable bump in any download allowance you have.
