DEFCON Warning System

Staff member
This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 9 P.M. UTC, Friday, December 1st, 2023. Condition code is Green. DEFCON 5.

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats at this time.

Russia has formally pulled out of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe. In response, NATO has suspended the arms control deal as well.

China propaganda about the United States has taken a softer tone, indicating distress in China over China's economy. This could lead China to rethink the possibility of military action, at least in the short term.

Public support in the United States for Ukraine in its defence against Russia is fading, according to polls.

Iran says it will not get directly involved in Hamas’ war with Israel, though operations through its proxies continue. Meanwhile, an Israeli laser has successfully intercepted an incoming Hamas rocket.

The United States and Philippines have signed a civil nuclear cooperation agreement that will allow the transfer of nuclear energy-related materials and components between the two countries. The B61-12 nuclear bomb is now formally in the U.S. stockpile.

North Korea says it will no longer be bound by the September 19 North-South Military Agreement. South Koreans, concerned about the U.S. commitment to protect them, want their own nuclear weapons by a large majority.

The DEFCON Warning System is a private intelligence organization which has monitored and assessed nuclear threats by national entities since 1984. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack. If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
