DEFCON Warning System - Update 4/7/16

DEFCON Warning System

Director
Staff member
This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 8 P.M., Thursday, April 7th, 2016. Condition code is Yellow. DEFCON 3.

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time, however the situation is considered fluid and can change rapidly.

The situation in Korea seems to be calming down. While North Korea has engaged in electronic jamming which had widely disrupted South Korean traffic, the jamming has since ceased. North Korea has also adopted a more conciliatory tone toward South Korea, indicating a possible move to defuse tensions in the area. It should be noted that North Korea has not backed away from its nuclear development or its nuclear positioning. Sanctions, however, may be taking their toll as even ally China has participated in the sanctions. Tellingly, China has also started to come out against North Korea, calling the regime a danger to China.

At this time, The DEFCON Warning System believes that war in the area is becoming less likely, especially with the U.S. exercises with South Korea scheduled to wrap up soon. There continue to be no signs of either side preparing to launch hostilities. Nevertheless, because of the extreme tensions in the region, we remain at a heightened alert level for the time being.

In other areas of note, China is testing long range ICBMs capable of striking anywhere in the United States. They are also developing a longer range missile to avoid a route over U.S. stationed anti-missile batteries. Pakistan, meanwhile, has deployed tactical nuclear weapons along its forward military bases, with launch authority given to local commanders. Currently, dialogue between India and Pakistan has been suspended.

The DEFCON Warning System is a private enterprise which monitors world events and assesses nuclear threats against the United States by national entities. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack.

If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.

This concludes this broadcast of the DEFCON Warning System.
