This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 6:25 P.M., Sunday, June 12th, 2016. Condition code is Blue. DEFCON 4.

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time, however there are events occurring in the world theater which require closer monitoring.

Russia has begun sending a large number of assets into Ukraine and has started gaining ground West and North with shelling heard close to Kiev. Poland has stated they will come to Ukraine's defense, though we have not seen movement on their part at this time.

Fearing a Russian invasion, NATO has positioned numerous assets close to the region in preparation, and has sent carriers into the Black Sea, which Russia has vowed to respond to though it is unknown what response to expect. It is highly unlikely that Russia will attack American carriers as long as the carries do nothing themselves.

Current analysis suggests that Russia is moving to secure regions that Russian-backed rebels have been unable to hold. An all-out invasion of Ukraine is not considered likely. It is believed that NATO will sit and watch to see what happens rather than move in to assist Ukraine repel Russia as long as Russia remains in the areas it has operated in so far.

We do not expect any NATO/Russian hostility, but with so many military assets operating in the area, and each side expecting the other to do something, we feel this is a situation which needs to be watched more carefully. We will update as the situation warrants, but feel that there is no threat to the United States from this operation.

The DEFCON Warning System is a private enterprise which monitors world events and assesses nuclear threats against the United States by national entities. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack.

If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
