explosion in DC?

Last I read on CNN it was a broken power conductor that caused the widespread power failure.

What I don't understand is if a transformer, or whatever it was, blew up in maryland, why would it only affect government buildings in DC? Or were there reports of civilian outages as well? I find it hard to believe that it would have only affected governmental buildings in DC. anyone have more info on exactly where power was lost besides the reported government buildings?

Subject: Soviet "gray terror" and the "overture" leading up to world war

Soviet Defector Sukolovs Warning

(excerpts taken into context)

"I do not know how or when World War Three will start. I do not know exactly how the Soviet high command plans to make use of spetsnaz in that war: the first world war in which spetsnaz will be a major contributor. I do not wish to predict the future. In this chapter I shall describe how spetsnaz will be used at the beginning of that war as I imagine it. It is not my task to describe what will happen. But I can describe what might happen."

"The last month of peace, as in other wars, has an almost palpable air of crisis about it. Incidents, accidents, small disasters add to the tension"

(Examples) added

"In West Germany there are several unsuccessful attempts on the lives of American generals.
In the North Sea the biggest of the British oil rigs tips over and sinks. The precise reason for this is not established, although experts believe that corrosion of main supports is the culprit.
In the United States an epidemic of some unidentified disease breaks out and spreads rapidly. It seems to affect port areas particularly, such as San Francisco, Boston, Charleston, Seattle, Norfolk and Philadelphia."

"The terrorist acts carried out in the course of the 'overture' require very few people, very few weapons and little equipment. In some cases all that may be needed is one man who has as a weapon nothing more than a screwdriver, a box of matches or a glass ampoule. Some of the operations can have catastrophic consequences. For example, an epidemic of an infectious disease at seven of the most important naval bases in the West could have the effect of halving the combined naval might of the Soviet Union's enemies."

"From the first moment of the first day of war the main forces of spetsnaz go into action. From then on the terror is conducted in the name of the Soviet Union and of the Communist leadership: 'red terror'.
But between the 'grey' and the 'red' terror there may be an intermediate period - the 'pink' terror, when active military operations have not yet begun and there is still peace, but when some of the best spetsnaz units have already gone into action. The situation is complicated by the fact that, on the one hand, Soviet fighting units are already in battle, but that, on the other hand, they are not yet operating in the name of the Soviet Union. This is an exceptionally risky moment for the Soviet high command. But he who risks nothing gains nothing. The Soviet commanders want to gain a great deal, and so are ready to risk a lot. A great deal has of course been done to reduce the level of risk. Only a relatively small number of spetsnaz troops take part in the 'pink' terror, but they are the best people in spetsnaz - professional athletes of Olympic class. Everything has been done to make sure that not one of them should fall into the hands of the enemy before the outbreak of war. A great deal has also been done to ensure that, if one of them should fall into enemy hands at that moment, it would be very difficult to establish his connection with any country whatsoever."

"The 'pink' terror may continue for no more than a few hours. But those are the most important hours and minutes - the very last hours and minutes of peace. It is very important that those hours and minutes should be spoilt for the enemy and used for the maximum advantage to the Soviet side. It must be pointed out that the 'pink' terror may not be carried out at all. It is used only when there is absolute certainty of the success of the operations and equal certainty that the enemy will not be able in the remaining hours and minutes to assess the situation correctly and strike the first pre-emptive blow."

As far as I know, this remains official RF policy, as no RF official statement has been to support or deny this high ranking General's warning of the Peristroika deception after his defection.

Think Ukraine, beta-test.

BRINK OF NUCLEAR WW3 – U.S. Commander Refused To Fire Nukes At Russia (SkyKing Encrypted Message)

A new report circulating in the Kremlin today prepared by the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) for the Ministry of Defense (MoD) states that President Barack Obama’s nuclear war communication commander has been arrested and relieved of her command after failing to transmit launch codes authorizing an atomic weapons first-strike attack upon the Federation in coordination with a similar “surprise” attack planned by the United Kingdom.

In the U.S. military’s strategic nuclear weapon command and control system, an Emergency Action Message (EAM) is a preformatted message that directs nuclear-capable forces[1] to execute specific Major Attack Options (MAOs) or Limited Attack Options (LAOs) in a nuclear war.

Individual countries or specific regions may be included or withheld in the EAM, as specified in the Single Integrated Operational Plan (SIOP).

On Monday, 16 March, this report states, Captain Cole received from the Pentagon a launch order authorizing a “limited” nuclear strike against the Federation, but which failed due to a critical Permissive Action Link (PAL) failure thus causing her to abort this planned attack.

For her failure to communicate the launch authorization to US nuclear forces, this report continues, Captain Cole was arrested on Tuesday, 17 March, relieved of her command and then taken by armed guard to US Naval Air Station (NAS) Miramar in San Diego (California) where she remains incommunicado.

Upon Captain Cole being arrested, a MoD appendix to this SVR report says, President Putin ordered the Federations strategic nuclear bomber forces to their “fail-safe” locations in the Arctic (the fastest air route to the US from Russia), an expansion of the Northern Fleet’s combat operations into the Norwegian Sea, and continued combat air operations against NATO forces on the northern border

TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. (NNS) -- Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (CNAP), relieved the commander of Strategic Communications Wing 1 (SCW 1) and Task Force (TF) 124 at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., March 17, due to a loss of confidence in the commander's ability to lead.

CNAP Vice Adm. Mike Shoemaker relieved Capt. Heather E. Cole, commander, SCW 1 and TF 124, of her duties.

The action resulted from the initial findings of an investigation, which determined that Cole had not performed up to the high standards demanded of an officer in command.

Cole has been temporarily assigned to the CNAP staff pending the final adjudication of the case.

Capt. Brian McCormick, the former deputy commander of SCW 1 and TF 124, has been assigned as acting commander of the wing and task force.

SCW 1 is an administrative command, responsible to Commander Naval Air Forces (CNAF), for manning, training and equipping the Navy squadrons responsible for nuclear command and control communication to the nation's nuclear triad. TF 124 is an operational command, responsible to Commander, U.S. Strategic Command, which provides the airborne platform and aircrew for the U.S. Strategic Command Airborne Command Post, the Airborne Launch Control System, the Non-Strategic Nuclear Forces Theater Commanders and the "Take Charge and Move Out" (TACAMO) Emergency Action Message relay missions.

Plus the story of the investigation was from Feb. didn't come out until days after just the release announcement which had no reason

Her history:

Read the bottom from John Moore. He is very conservative and was active law enforcement. He was special forces too. He has his daily radio show at jrlibertyman.com. He says 4 US aircraft were lost around the 20th when we were at DC 3. He is not known to put out unreliable info.

They're all connected one way or another. The 1977 and 2004 New York blackouts were caused by blow-outs in Canada.

Actually, the 2004 blackout had nothing to do with Canada. The cascade started with a shorted transmission line in Ohio.

Yup. Agreed. That blackout pissed a lot of folks off though. Don't want em all mad at us Canucks. ;)

As a side note, when I checked conditions for D.C. yesterday, after reading the story, the it was pretty warm. 87% humidity, as well. Combined with the after effects of a harsh winter, not to mention being close to the ocean...

*edit*

Sorry. I HAD to bring up a Canadian Bacon reference. A classic comedy about nearly every Canadian/American stereotype there is.
