Opening a thread about that, because for the first time, a major french town is threatened by wild fire (Bordeaux, that's a town with 1 000 000 inhabitants). Already over 140 000 have been evacuated.

Some external neighborhood have been ordered to evacuate, and the army has been deployed to both reinforce the firefighters and to help to manage the evacuations.

Several EU countries has sent water bomber planes/copters reinforcement (Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Portugal)

From next monday tho, i won't be able to really post about it, because i'll be sent too as reinforcement (i'm a firefighter)

(That's an article from yesterday, i struggle to find updated ones in english)

In response to the scale of the fires ravaging the Gironde, the French Prime Minister's office announced the deployment of an A400M military transport aircraft starting this Saturday—a decision made at the request of Sébastien Lecornu. Equipped with an experimental drop kit designed by Airbus, the aircraft can release up to 20 tonnes of fire retardant in a single pass, equivalent to the capacity of two Canadair planes.

Local farmers are organizing to provide support to firefighters (bringing them citerns full of water to refill fire trucks faster, also bringing them foods and drinks, and sometimes directly fighting fire with "civilian" pump and hose)

That's gonna be my last post for a while i guess, i'm being deployed in few hours there so will be busy. I'll stop posting smaller village evacuation stuff etc... but i'll try to post for major stuff (Major town evacuated, casualties etc...)

Train circulation stopped at the south of Bordeaux

And here is my personal report :

we got deployed the whole day Marcheprime and Le Porge villages. situation is really really bad. Le Porge village is mostly destroyed, we are defending Marcheprime, but fire is everywhere, my lieutenant has 20 years of firefighting experience and never saw anything like that.

we are having heavy support from farmers ( locals or from nearby province coming to help), but they are suffering material and human casualties ( wounds, no fatalities for now)

we are having half an hour of rest before continuing the fight. Good luck to everyone fighting that fire, it's a war here, we are holding strong

Gods speed. 🫡 Please stay safe and when you have time please report what you hear & see. But your safy and mental health come first. Take care sir. I know what it is like. Live in Florida and report in durring hurricanes as I stay instead of evacuate. But never endangered myself or my mental well being to report in here. You and your family/neighbors come first in any emergency!

Can't really stay safe, I'm a firefighter and enlisted especially to help in situation like that. Hopefully my baguette ration will keep us strong and sharp! Thx for the good words mate, will bring us good mood, we are attacking again in 10 minutes!
