In the last two weeks, the climate in Greece has changed, with the media preparing public opinion for war with Turkey. Key points:

1) Military assets have been dispersed to key locations
2) A European embassy issued instructions to its citizens within Greece
3) US diplomats have increased their meetings with Greek officials
4) Greece and Turkey have closed the same locations in the Aegean for exercises
5) red line between Greek and Turkish chiefs of staff have been closed
6) Turkey moved extra artillery units and troops to Northern Cyprus
7) Hybrid warfare between two sides (cyber and media) has began

Yes. I do not understand why NATO is tolerating this kind of behavior from a member state.

In that sense which ever nation starts a conflict should be the one kicked out.Regardless this could be a prime opportunity for NATO to kick Turkey out and even UN considerations. At least thats what SHOULD happen, knowing how things work it will take a global war before either organization would actually do that.

The Chairman of the European Union Military Committee General Mikhail Kostarakos, who happens to be Greek said yesterday to the Greek Press:

 "There is no European Army and do not expect its help during a crisis with Turkey. We will defend ourselves alone. The crisis is not over, it develops. We will see more provocations from Turkey. "

European leaders on March 22 strongly condemned Turkey’s “illegal actions” toward Greece and Cyprus in a blistering denunciation that could upend an EU-Turkish summit in Bulgaria on March 26.

The statement by the 28 European Union member states meeting in Brussels comes after Turkey’s arrest of two Greek soldiers, and its promise to prevent the internationally-recognized Greek Cypriot government from exploring for oil and gas.

“The European Council strongly condemns Turkey’s continued illegal actions in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea and underlines its full solidarity with Cyprus and Greece,” the statement said.

More and more Greek news websites that specialize on military affairs claim that the Greek Armed Forces are on "Amber Alert." F-16 Squadrons are on high-alert, and can take-off any time (either to intercept Turkish jets or to bomb islets found to have been invaded by Turkish troops). Also, there are reports that the Infantry is calling reservists back to service.

The U.S. would promptly kick Turkeys ass if it started a war with Greece. We have a ton of Greeks in this country and where I live, there is a big Greek community nearby. I would expect to see a lot of Turks in the area to take a beating. The Turks here are not nice people and are very shady.. Its like they are always hiding something. The police have had to shut their stores down often and permanently close a few for drug dealings. I get along with the other Arab store owners just fine but the Turks always have an attitude, like they are too good to be here.

Turkey and Greece have become involved in an increasingly bitter war of words, with Ankara demanding the extradition of runaway suspects and Athens urging its neighbor to release two trespassing soldiers.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras called on Turkey on April 3 to release two Greek soldiers detained on Turkish territory in March.

“[Turkey] has intensified its provocations and is escalating the situation on all fronts,” Tsipras said.

Athens says the soldiers crossed into Turkey by mistake while following the trail of suspected undocumented migrants. Turkish courts have ordered their detention on suspicion of illegal entry and attempted military espionage.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has demanded the release of two Greek soldiers jailed in Turkey, arguing that they should not be "pawns to blackmail".

"Human life and human freedom are not, and should not be, pawns to power games and blackmail," Tsipras said in a statement to Documento newspaper published on Saturday.

"In the past, we returned Turkish soldiers who crossed a few metres into Greece while on patrol. I expect the Turkish president to do the same," he said.

The two Greek soldiers are being held in pre-trial detention in Turkey, which accuses the duo of illegally crossing the border on March 2. The soldiers said they lost their way in the fog.

Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos has moved 7,000 troops to the border with Turkey. In contrast, Premier Alexis Tsipras calls for “calm and moderation.” Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos described Turkey on Wednesday as an “enemy constantly provoking us” and said he has ordered the deployment of more military personnel to the islands in the eastern Aegean.

He said 7,000 soldiers were deployed to the islands and the border area in northeastern Greece.

“If they have the courage, just let them challenge one inch of our territory. The Greeks – united – will destroy them,” said Kammenos during a reserve exercise on the island of Ikaria.

Greece and Turkey are battling for the air and sea borders in the Aegean Sea and oil and gas wells off the coast of Cyprus. In the past, Turkish President Recep Erdogan has not only been questioning the borders but has also threatened a military strike against Greece.
