The Pentagon is preparing U.S. military bases to keep operating for at least 90 days without outside support as it prepares for the possibility of a major war that could cripple power grids, disrupt supply chains and threaten critical infrastructure on American soil.

But what is our illustrious federal, state, country. city or town governments doing for its people in the US. NOTHING!
At a bare minimum every man, women or child should have access to a full NBC suit.

The govt has never done anything for civil defense -- even during the height of the cold war or right after 9/11 -- except occasionally put out a duck and cover type video.

Well, when we vote, we aren’t giving them permission to start a war—yet they do it anyway. And this isn’t just in the USA; so-called democracies are a sham—they act just like countries run by dictatorships. The people who start these wars have protection—everything they need to survive—while the common people are left to die.
Soon, you’ll be voting for Congress, but Congress rarely intervenes to prevent wars—whether they’re Democrats or Republicans, it makes no difference; in effect, your vote is cast into a void.

The US already has bases that can be self-sufficient for months.
Which ones, I mean water sewer and power because past about three days with any significant population density all are going to be a real issue. Not being argumentative I’ve just never read anything indicating that military bases are truly or could continue to function independently from the civilian grid.

In then end even this will be a short term help. No better than a well prepared MAG.
Functional military bases would need a robust security infrastructure and personnel. And enough supplies and resources to engage and help the surrounding local area.
Otherwise they will just become isolated islands surrounded by desperate people.

Short term in a large scale attack, regionally or nationally, they definitely would be a positive resource.
But in a complete collapse it’s still going to have limited long term effect.

You know in a republic we elect people to “act” in our place. And you’re completely correct that sometimes, oftentimes they rarely seem to do this very thing.
Many times those people make decisions based on information we don’t have. I personally can tolerate this some of the time.

People speak of the deep state like it’s some shadowy cabal. It’s not it’s just professional politicians and bureaucrats running the government and affairs of the nation how ever they see fit.

When you see elected officials of different parties doing or voting basically the same way time and again you have found the deep state.
People defend this process like it’s some kind of noble centrist path. It is the epitome of going along to get along.

I’m encouraged that the pentagon is taking steps to bolster the infrastructure and resilience of at least more of our military bases. It’s a step in the right direction. Re-shoring manufacturing opening up of energy production from oil and refineries to multiple nuclear power generation systems all in the works is another material step in strengthening the nation.
There is also a growing manufacturing footprint in the US than can build the big transformers for our grid.
There are at least five companies in business or expanding located in the US mainland. Another material step towards strengthening the nation.
We can’t hunker down and pinch pennies to change the course of the nation. From security to debt levels. There is only one way out, build and grow.
