Italian peacekeepers from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) delivered humanitarian aid, consisting of important supplies of powdered milk and medicines to combat acute diseases and treat other health conditions, to the Lebanese Red Cross and to the Crisis Unit of the Municipality of Tyre.
The donation also includes some medicines, mainly antibiotics, painkillers, and anti-inflammatories to treat respiratory diseases, intestinal diseases, and urinary tract infections. The powdered milk will help not only ensure the nutritional needs necessary for the growth and development of infants and children, but also prevent malnutrition, disease, and in the worst cases, death.
The materials were handed over to officials of the Lebanese Red Cross and the Crisis Unit of the Municipality of Tyre, who will transport and distribute them to displaced people from the border areas in southern Lebanon, who have been affected by the current conflict that has major repercussions in the country and in the area of operations of the UN “Blue Helmets”.
