IDF has now admitted to 8 deaths today. 5 were a part of the Egoz force caught in an ambush in Odaisseh, when they encountered a Radwan cell in a house. This led to a drawn-out firefight and reinforcements were sent in to retrieve the killed, wounded, & survivors. This was done under heavy Hezbollah mortar fire. IDF armored elements (7th Brigade perhaps) provided cover with fierce tank fire, while airstrikes were directed on Hezbollah gunmen. The casualties were transported to hospitals by Rescue Unit 669. Another 5 were seriously wounded in this incident.2 members of Golani's 631st Patrol Battalion were killed while another was seriously injured. A combat medic from Golani's 51st Battalion was seriosuly injured in a different incident. Today Hezbollah claimed IDF tried cutting off Yaroun from the western forest. They allege they inflicted casualties on this force by detonating explosive devices. Lebanese sources also mentioned casualties inflicted during IDF advances towards Maroun El Ras, a local zenith that overlooks all the surrounding hills. They say 3 Merkava tanks (188th Brigade) were hit. A member of the Yahalom combat engineering unit was also killed, but the location is unclear.
