Iran’s National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) says domestic contractors have begun drilling development wells at the offshore Belal field on the maritime border with Qatar, alongside construction of a production platform and a 20 km pipeline to South Pars. The 440 million dollar project targets first phase output of about 500 million cubic feet per day of gas and 15,000 barrels per day of condensate, positioning Belal as a support field to offset expected declines at South Pars.
