The Trump administration's security team held a meeting on Iran on Tuesday morning but Donald Trump was not attending, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said.
Axios reports White House envoy Steve Witkoff secretly met Reza Pahlavi (exiled former crown prince) over the weekend amid Iran’s protest wave. If accurate, this is the first high-level Trump administration contact with Iranian opposition figures in the current unrest and it signals Washington is actively probing post-regime narratives and leverage.
Government of Canada advises Canadians in Iran to leave now if they can do so safely. Commercial flights are limited, but overland exits are available via Armenia and Türkiye. Canada says Canadian passport holders do not need a visa to enter either country. Consular support inside Iran is extremely limited.

Hebrew media (citing Reuters) says Israel raised readiness, including air-defense readiness, amid concern a possible US strike on Iran could trigger retaliation on Israel.
Separately, Hebrew reports say Israel’s Health Ministry pushed “rapid shift to emergency” procedures for hospitals/health services if alert levels rise.
Iraq Ministry of Transport (via INA) denies reports of flight stoppages at Baghdad International Airport, says flights are continuing normally. This directly undercuts circulating “Iran to Baghdad flights cancelled” claims.
As of 13 Jan 2026, France MFA says do not travel to Iran. If you are there short term, leave immediately, residents who can are advised to leave temporarily.
