Iranian Government Spokesman Ali Rabiyee announced that President Hassan Rouhani has sent a number of letters to Saudi King Salman to promote peace and stability in the region.
"The honorable president has sent some letters (to the Saudi King). The base of these letters is regional peace and stability," Rabiyee told reporters in a press conference in Tehran on Monday.
"We believe that there could be bilateral ties established in numerous fields in the region and the US pressures should not stir a gap between neighbors," he added.
Rabiyee underlined that the regional states have deep interests in the region, adding, "The trans-regional countries, even a superpower like the US, act based on their interests in the region and they will leave the region if their interests are not met."
