It’s Starting to Look Like We Need a South America Subsection

The US is very ambiguous on this point. If they were serious about no longer defending any country, they would withdraw all their troops outside the US and close their bases. One wonders what the reason is for the American presence everywhere. The real reason is CASH, the main American value (it's to fill your plate).

In any case, Europe doesn't need the Americans to fight Russia; that country is no longer the USSR. Russia doesn't have the resources to fight Europe.

To suggest that Europe needs the US against Russia is simply American propaganda and lies.
Yeah I’ve been saying f for a while Europe doesn’t militarily need the US to protect them from Russia for a little while.
That’s kinda been the point of the administration push to get Europe to meet there commitments

And there has been no push to close massive numbers of bases overseas.
Rather it has been Europe do your part we have other issues like Asia and western hemisphere

See, boys and girls, that's why you shoud never go full-on MAGA. You'll just end up writing stuff like this. 👆
Sorry my sarcasm escaped you.

Do you have anything to add except insults

Oh! You have enormous prejudices against Europe; I believe that even Poland would be capable of defeating Russia.
Take a break from anti America bias. I'm asking questions about challenges others have brought up. The Warfronts video is put together by Simon Whistler, who is European. He's based in Prague.

Sorry my sarcasm escaped you.
Oh, sarcasm, eh...? So you were joking...? Ah. Ha ha ha. Ha. Ha ha. Very funny.

Actually, I don't think that outburst was meant as a joke. Instead, I think it was an expression of blind rage. And I also happen to think you're just being dishonest right now.

Of course, I could be wrong. 💁‍♂️

So, according to you, one must be pro-American to write on this site?
You too can ask the moderators.

I don't take orders from you.
I don't think that conclusion can be drawn from my post. I made no such claim and in other posts I have upheld he position that other points of view must be considered. Additionally, in other posts, I've supported the progress of the EU and have argued that it can stand on its own. My point with this post is that a clear anti American bias may be preventing some from assessing my comments in a balanced fashion.

IMO the real test will come when America begins invading peaceful countries, and in response people start to express the same views about Americans as we've been freely expressing about the Russians over the past three years (as in: "we sure hope they get killed in great numbers!").

Though, to be honest - once it comes to that, I don't expect the folks operating this site to still be allowed to carry on as usual. 💁‍♂️

Oh! poor you, you are part of the club of the misquoted. In fact, what I write has nothing to do with an anti-American bias, the reason is simple: You do not agree with me, and you have the right.

Yes, Europe's mistake is trusting the Americans. The day they understand this, they will be stronger. Canada has understood this; we have defense agreements with other countries. Regarding the US Golden Dome, Canada agreed, but without commitment, so we understand that this project will never come to fruition. Trump is a windbag.
I guess now, we know in Europe that we can't trust the american administration (in term of diplomacy.)
I mean, US litterally threatened war on land of an EU member... (Greenland).

I do think that now, Europe can handle Russia, because it's struggling against Ukraine, so it won't win against Poland, France etc... (especially if we fight together). We need now in Europe to prepare to not rely in US anymore, in both military presence and military seller

When Brazil gets nukes, we might.

Seriously, though, if nuclear powers start to play around there, maybe.
Agreed. Anything that happens in South America AUTOMATICALLY touches U.S. / North American interests, so I don’t see a need for a separate subsection.

Not to sound like a stereotypical narcissistic American, but whatever happens in South America ends up relating to North America pretty much every time.

Agreed. Anything South American AUTOMATICALLY involves US/North American interest, regardless. No need for sperate subsection.

Not to sound like an ignorant or narcissistic American but anything that happens in South America immediately relates to North America.
👉👉If anything, a good compromise would be to rename the subsection simply “America's”

Then it doesn’t matter whether it is North or South, the label covers both. You stay accurate and politically correct, and it reflects reality better. Honestly, I’d just change the subsection title to “Americas” and be done with it, @DEFCON Warning System.

To be honest "America's" sounds like a better fit for the subsection.

Lose the apostrophe and you have my vote. ;)

Well, my thinking was that the apostrophe shows ownership. Since we’re talking about both continents, I figured the term would take an apostrophe, because in my head they both “own” the name America.

👉👉I’m American and speak fluent English, but grammar is still my weak spot. The way I was taught, if something owns anything, it takes 's. Two people can own the same thing and you still use the apostrophe in English, it just means they both own it.

That was my logic anyway. If I’ve got that wrong, feel free to correct me.

I just deep researched this. I concede and you are correct. If you decide to rename the subsection go with what he said do not use the apostrophe. @DEFCON Warning System.

Well no having the apostrophe means ownership. And I would assume ownership over both continents so therefore the apostrophe is needed when you say America..... Right? Even though I'm American and speak fluent English English still is my weakness.... But for my understanding use an apostrophe when someone owns it and both subjects means they both own it which means the apostrophe is needed in America.... Right?
I'm honestly having a hard time trying to figure out if you're being serious or not.

If you are 👉 The correct form is actually "The Americas" - obviously no apostrophe, since it's not a possessive; it simply means "North America and South America taken together". Also, it's customary to include the definite article in this context.

If you aren't 👉 Ha, I see what you did there! 😉
