The United States is not talking about "negotiations" at this point in seeking an unprecedented summit with North Korea, a senior U.S. official said Friday, adding that it is too early to discuss how to inspect or verify the reclusive state's nuclear program.
U.S. President Donald Trump has accepted a surprise invitation from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and that meeting will likely take place by May to discuss achieving permanent denuclearization.
South Korea's national security adviser, Chung Eui-yong, delivered the invitation during his briefing Thursday (local time) on the outcome of his trip to Pyongyang early this week as President Moon Jae-in's special envoy.
"At this point we're not even talking about negotiations," the official told reporters during a press call after the announcement was made. "What we're talking about is an invitation by the leader of North Korea to meet face to face with the President of the United States. The President has accepted that invitation."

The United States said Friday that North Korea must take "concrete actions" to demonstrate its commitment to denuclearize in order to realize a summit with U.S. President Donald Trump.
The remark by White House press secretary Sarah Sanders came a day after Trump accepted North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's invitation to a summit on the regime's denuclearization.
Sanders was asked why Trump did not attach preconditions, such as the release of three Americans detained in the North.
"That's something that we're going to continue advocating for and pushing for," she said during a regular press briefing. "But let's not forget that the North Koreans did promise something: They've promised to denuclearize, they've promised to stop nuclear and missile testing, and they've recognized that we're going to continue in our military exercises."
Sanders claimed those pledges were made with "zero concessions" from the U.S.

North Korea has not conducted a Missile Test since November 28, 2017 and has promised not to do so through our meetings. I believe they will honor that commitment!

North Korea's foreign minister will visit Sweden soon, local media reported Friday, after US President Donald Trump and the North's leader Kim Jong Un agreed to meet to discuss Pyongyang's nuclear and missile tests.
Ri Yong Ho is expected to meet Swedish counterpart Margot Wallström "in the near future", diplomatic sources told the daily Dagens Nyheter, without specifying what they would discuss.
Contacted by AFP, the Swedish foreign ministry refused to comment.
The report comes after Trump floored his own advisors when he agreed to accept an offer to meet nuclear-armed dictator Kim before the end of May.
One issue to be resolved is where those talks will take place.
Sweden's embassy in Pyongyang represents US, Canadian and Australian diplomatic interests in North Korea and plays a key role in liaising diplomatic talks.

Sweden is ready and willing to host a historic meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven said on Saturday.
“If we can help in any way, we will do it,” Löfven said at a press conference in Luxembourg on Saturday.
Sweden and Switzerland are the two prime contenders that have been put forward as possible venues for the meeting announced by Trump last week, although the de-militarised zone between North and South Korea and Mongolia have also been mooted.
In an interview with Sweden's TT newswire, Löfven pointed to his country’s role as “a protecting power” for the USA in North Korea, an arrangement which enables the US to use Sweden’s embassy in Pyongyang to carry out diplomacy in the closed dictatorship.
“I don’t want to speculate too much about what that might mean,” he said. “But the fact that we are a protecting power for the US, have been at the border since the 1950s, and have had an embassy in Pyongyang since the start of the 1970s has given us a relationship with North Korea in which we feel they trust us.”

I am assuming that Kim Jong Un is meeting Moon also in April. This is highly significant. But it feels like NK has SK running around doing all the work with little talk from NK.

North Korea’s state-run newspaper called on the United States to withdraw its troops from South Korea ahead of a summit between Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump, accusing Washington of trying to invade Northeast Asia.
The Rodong Sinmun took issue with ongoing talks between Seoul and Washington over the renewal of a cost-sharing agreement for maintaining American troops in the South, saying the United States was “wasting” South Koreans’ tax money for its own benefit by insisting Seoul to pay a bigger share.
“South Korea-U.S. relations aren’t based on an ‘ironclad’ alliance,” a Korean version of the article published Wednesday read. “South Korea is a subordinate and U.S. imperial forces are the source of the pain and misfortune South Koreans are experiencing today.”
The article continued that South Koreans wanted U.S. forces withdrawn from their country because they were “threatening the peace and security” of the Korean Peninsula, adding Seoul was raging a “patriotic battle” to regain sovereignty from the U.S.

North Korea's Foreign Minister Ri Yong-Ho landed at 18.14 on Arlanda together with four employees. According to TT, Ri will be driving to North Korea's embassy in Lidingö and then on to the UD.
Ri and his co-workers landed on Arlanda's runway 1 with a regular flight from Beijing, China Air's flight CA911.
The delegation will later meet Sweden's Foreign Minister Margot Wallström, Cabinet Secretary Annika Söder and Kent Härstedt, who have visited North Korea on a number of occasions.
Sweden has a role in the Korean peninsula and during these two days, both big and small issues are related to the situation in which to be touched. Sweden tries to be a contact and channel between others regarding North Korea, "said Margot Wallström's press secretary, Pezhman Fivrin, to DN.
