True, but see below. And if I may, that if funding is available or used properly is a foundational political point.
Yes, you can, if it's part of a news report or press release. If there is a false statement made by a government official in that report or conference, point it out using supporting evidence. You can’t disqualify any governmental response or preperation as not being a political point.
"Newsom's claim that {insert claim here} is incorrect, and here are three sources to back up that statement," is a valid discussion point.
"Demonrats like Newscum are cheats and liars and if Trump had been in office this disaster never would have happened," or "Welcome to Trump's America where Democrat states won't receive any funding for disasters from the Nazis," are hyperpartisan political comments that are not relevant to the topic, not conducive to the discussion, not productive, and not welcome in the thread.
This is because critiques, compliments, and dismissals derail the thread with all the "LEFT BAD RIGHT GOOD / RIGHT BAD LEFT GOOD" partisan crap that always seems to rear it's ugly head as of late. People seem incapable of being able to just talk about any given topic without the conversation devolving into "Fuck Democrats" and "Fuck Republicans." I'm sick and tired of it and I'm not going to tolerate it outside of the Politics forum.Any critique, compliment or dismissals of any governmental response or lack of has automatically become political statement.
A thread dealing with a natural disaster should not be filled with an entire page of partisan sniping. So we can report in the non-politics forum only, period full stop. You also can’t use it as an excuse to hide from unwanted actions or lack of actions by any political clique you might or might not support.
I would prefer not to interfere at all with intelligent discussions on any topic. The problem is and has been that some people in this forum use every report or analysis as an excuse to demean the political party they don't like instead of focusing on the actual topic of discussion. I am putting a stop to that unless it's a thread in the Politics forum. That's what it's there for.So the forum is back to either reporting facts or reports purely. Which is hard enough with the plethora of news sites and worldviews out there today.
Which is why this site has always pushed supporting statements with reliable sources. A statement made without a reliable source to back it up is just an opinion.Welcome to the local chatter and claptrap at any local bar or cafe of your choice.
Bear in mind always in your travels that what is considered a self evident statement of fact in one region or country. Can very well be considered a falsehood, conflation of facts or doctrinaire interpretation in a different region.
Not on this site; not on my watch.Welcome to the jungle. Sometimes it is just about pissing down another’s back.
