This is rather sad that we can't have a simple, respectful, and factual thread covering yet another horrific disaster. Seriously losing hope on humanity...

Agreed. @william - Just because a post mentions the name of a politician does NOT make it a political post. Knock off the juvenile bullshit. Also, this is not either. A federal response to this disaster is expected and part of the reporting.
I’m beginning to notice certain people on this site have a habit of derailing certain threads, almost to stifle discussion, when certain things are said. Mods need to take more notice of these people, and look into where the IP’s are or if they use VPN.
@RiffRaff you shouldn’t have to be babysitting like this. You guys might need to do a government shill audit. Not kidding.
I deleted everything, including quoted posts.-snip- Drank some coffee and realized it's not worth it to ask

Alright, so for every disaster from this point on, let’s just ignore everything all elected officials have to say. Seems very wise. So, when a politician speaks to the press it's not a political post! WTF!!!
I DON'T LIKE BULLIES!!!!!
POLITICAL POST!!!!!
That's a thread I don't wanna touch with a 50 ft pole.I think the intent of this thread is to talk about the wildfires themselves and what is happening. The politics of the wildfires are better addressed in its own, separate thread.
It may not be your first thought, but I guarantee you, once the shock wears off, you will indeed start wondering who is to blame for it.If my house catches fire, my first thought is not "which politician can I blame", even if a politician just committed arson on my house! I'm a little more worried about dealing with the fact my house is on fire.
Sure, but my point is the fires are ongoing. Not really a debate worth having until, yk, the fire is out. And then we can point fingers all day. Chances are, there is someone responsible. The idiot/maniac who almost certainly started the fires. And honestly, I dont think that funding would have made a difference in such current conditions. It may not be your first thought, but I guarantee you, once the shock wears off, you will indeed start wondering who is to blame for it.
Correct. Nothing would stop multiple fires in 100MPH winds. Literally nothing would. You can be as prepared as you want. But when winds reach hurricane force winds, check mate. There is no controlling a fire let alone several in those kind of wind conditions.dont think that funding would have made a difference in such current conditions.
Those kind of conditions remind me of the fire storms after the bombing of Dresden and Tokyo. You simply cannot stop a fire with winds raging that high. All you can do is run for your life. I saw on NBC Nightly News that one of the victims of the fire tried to protect his home with a garden hose and ended up dying. Nothing is worth your life, even trying to save your property.Correct. You know what, I think I agree with you. You aren't stopping a fire with those kinds of winds. I speak from experience. And honestly, I dont think that funding would have made a difference in such current conditions.
Yeah, that's not happening. Once the fire gets into the wood, you aren't putting it out. You have to cut it and remove it.I saw on NBC Nightly News that one of the victims of the fire tried to protect his home with a garden hose and ended up dying.
And if I may, that if funding is available or used properly is a foundational political point.Sure, but my point is the fires are ongoing. Not really a debate worth having until, yk, the fire is out. And then we can point fingers all day. Chances are, there is someone responsible. The idiot/maniac who almost certainly started the fires. That is correct, and you know EXACTLY what I mean when I say "political post." Posting a video of a governor from a party you don't like giving a press conference on a natural disaster is NOT a political post. It's a news report.
This site is not a democracy.I DON'T LIKE BULLIES!!!!!![]()
No, it's not, and that's the end of the discussion. Go start a thread in the Politics forum and I'll leave it alone as long as everyone keeps it civilized and doesn't engage in personal attacks. But keep it out of THIS thread.POLITICAL POST!!!!!
