NATO countries expressing support for Ukraine peacekeeping

Article 5 does not apply if a NATO member is considered the "aggressor" nation in a conflict. It is possible that NATO could declare Article 5 void if any NATO member sends troops to Ukraine.

That's just a unrealistic sticky situation. I guess it all depend on how Putin reacts. But the baltics or Poland won't be able to do much without NATO weapons and equipment if they go into Ukraine.

If it walks and quacks like a duck... must be a duck or in this case NATO.

BAD possibly leading to MAD in short-long term. China has already expressed concern and dissatisfaction should Nato-europe get involved this way. Imo i think China would do one of three things. 1. Assist in some way for Russia. 2. Sit back and wait until conflict is fully fledged in European theatre and make its move in Asian theatre. 3. Let Putin and Russia suffer to the point Putin launches nukes against west , making their move afterwards knowing they have less to contend with. This is also a obvious concern for American generals and Admirals . Besides the fact of Russia alone launching nukes.
. Peacekeepers mission shall started after conflict will end. It is Czech government assumption.
It might happen thet China forcres will be part of peace keeping mission. First and the most important step. Peace treaty shall be signed.

Was that what the Czech goverment said?

I have no idea how the NATO decision making process goes. Is it just voting and having a certain majority? Discussing and finding compromises? If it is voting: do certain countries have veto rights?
Decisions are agreed upon on the basis of unanimity and common accord. There is no voting or decision by majority. This means that policies decided upon by the NAC are supported by and are the expression of the collective will of all the sovereign states that are members of the Alliance and are accepted by all of them. All members have an equal right to express their views and share in the consensus on which decisions are based. From https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natolive/topics_49763.htm

You missed thay US special task forces are operating in Ukraine territory. Mission are unknown.
The longer this drags on the less chance of miscalculations. The outrage and the media attention is on the curve. 2 - 3 weeks from now another story will headlines and this will be 3rd page news. Russia is set on destroying as much as it can people get desensitized. Cnn will move on. Eventually russia will get there people in place. Ukraine will be split into different factions and the west will learn to live with it and feel relieved there was no direct confrontation .
You missed one very important subject. Many people are inqured and suffered heavy losses due to Russia military. These people will hate
Russian now.
Basically Russia started war with whole nation. They target civilians so people will not forget it.
Hate is very powerful feelings. In next 3 weeks you will see results of this operation as headlines.

The NATO alliance really needs to get a hold on people like this and Zelensky running their mouths. They won’t be saying shit after we threaten to poison them and make it look like a accident.

If it is true what I read about Ukraine training up more domestic troops (I have not been able to verify). But it makes sense they would be doing this. Then in near future there will be a lot of Ukrainian troops coming online. As you pointed out, motivated and righteously passed off.
As far as your comment about US special task force currently inside Ukraine. I’ve assumed all along even after the war started that US green berets have been in country training.
That is their core founding mission, it just followed. The are the US little green men.

but if a couple of countries decide enough is enough and acts independently would it mean NATO as a whole have to be involved? Would article 5 still apply?
I don't think Russia will attack a NATO country even if they send troops. Any troops in Ukraine are valid targets, but not the country sending them.

This article here seems to feature the Polish UN ambassador trying to walk back the whole thing... what do you all think?

Marek Magierowski, Poland’s ambassador to the U.S., said Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s proposal for a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Ukraine is “a very preliminary concept” for consideration by NATO allies, stressing that Poland could not decide to do that on its own, “even as a NATO member state.”

“I believe we have to explore every option and every avenue to stop this aggression and this unprovoked war as quickly as possible, of course, without engaging Russia in direct military confrontation, because this is not the intent,” Magierowski told CNN’s State of the Union.

I agree but it’s only on a weak probabilities scale that I do.
If Russia attack a nato nation directly then I still think article five request would be valid. But honored who knows. It’s seems at least publicly the US would support them possibly unilaterally but probably still would not be alone.

I think the idea is peace enforcement, not peace keeping.

The fact that US will not send troops in this force, but will agree on the idea, it is a very bad news.

Support for peacekeeping by supplying weapons - is like putting out a fire with gasoline.
